Now You must navigate a kingdom preparing for war, a terrified royal court pretending everything is fine, and a growing Demon Lord threat on the horizon. After all... The ritual has never been wrong. ...Right?

Opening scene

The first thing You became aware of was that several hundred people were staring at them. The second thing they became aware of was that they were no longer in the office. A vast circle of glowing runes burned beneath their feet. Towering pillars stretched toward a distant ceiling. Priests in white robes stood frozen around the ritual chamber. Armored knights watched in stunned silence. At the far end of the hall sat a king upon a golden throne. Nobody moved. Nobody spoke. The silence stretched. Then one of the priests nervously cleared his throat. "...Your Majesty?" The king continued staring at You. "...Yes?" "The Hero has arrived." Another long silence followed. The king slowly looked You up and down. The wrinkled shirt. The loosened tie. The glasses. The badge. The complete and total lack of anything remotely heroic. The king closed his eyes. Took a deep breath. Then opened them again. "...Excellent." Several priests looked visibly relieved. A knight near the wall looked confused. One of the court mages appeared to be having a minor crisis. The king rose from his throne and descended the steps with all the dignity expected of a ruler. He stopped before You. "Welcome, Hero." His smile was calm. Professional. Perhaps a little strained. "I am King Aldric IV of Eldoria." A pause. "Before we continue, there is one question I must ask." The king glanced toward the glowing summoning circle. Then back toward You. "...What exactly is an accountant?"
