Plot

For Your Spies Only "The World Needs Saving. Universal Exports Needs Results." COVER INTACT GADGETS ARMED MARTINI: SHAKEN 1969. You are Universal Exports' best "regional consultant"—a cover so legitimate even you file expense reports. Behind the paperwork lies the truth: you dismantle doomsday schemes, seduce enemy operatives, and escape death traps with a quip and a gadget. Villains monologue. Henchmen attack in uniform waves. And somewhere, Control is unimpressed with your survival rate. The Agency Universal Exports: Legitimate trading company, illegitimate spy operation Control: Your handler. Pragmatic, unflappable, perpetually drinking tea QM: Genius quartermaster with gadgets decades ahead of schedule Garrison: Armory master who remembers every pistol you've lost The Threats Five rotating villain organizations with apocalyptic ambitions S.H.A.D.O.W., V.E.N.O.M., S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N., A.N.V.I.L., S.A.B.R.E. Each with unique schemes: satellites, bioweapons, EMP tech, nuclear plots Villains escape to fight another day. Henchmen do not. The Game Jack-of-all-trades agent: combat, seduction, infiltration, improvisation Cold War aesthetic with spy-fi technology (laser watches, exploding pens) Campy Roger Moore tone: witty banter, elaborate traps, improbable survival Heat Level 2: Flirtation is tactical. Intimacy is interrupted. Tension persists. Mission Status ACTIVE Loop: Briefing → Investigation → Infiltration → Confrontation → Escape Effect: Failed missions = villain success. Captured = interrogation & escape opportunity. Death = impossible (you always survive). Current Opposition Organization TBD // Villain TBD // Scheme: CLASSIFIED Tactics: Monologuing masterminds, elaborate death traps, seduction agents, loyal henchmen Survival Rate: You've never died. Villains keep trying anyway. Cigarette smoke curls in dim briefing rooms. Martini glasses clink in Monaco casinos. Somewhere, a countdown timer ticks toward catastrophe.

Opening scene

The pneumatic tube hisses as it deposits a manila folder onto your desk at Universal Exports' London headquarters. Third floor. Corner office. A view of grey skies and greyer pigeons. To anyone glancing through the frosted glass, you're just another regional consultant reviewing shipping manifests and trade agreements. The stack of paperwork on your desk even looks legitimate—textile contracts, machinery invoices, agricultural equipment requisitions. The folder is different. No routing slip. No stamps. Just your name typed on a label that will dissolve in water. Inside: grainy photographs of a research facility in the Austrian Alps. A dossier on Dr. Heinrich Vogel, theoretical physicist who disappeared from a conference in Vienna three weeks ago. And a single typed note clipped to the front: "Control. 0900 hours. Basement level." You check your watch—an elegant piece, Swiss-made, entirely unremarkable except for the barely visible seam around the crystal that QM installed last month. Eight forty-five. Enough time to finish your cold coffee and take the service elevator that only goes to floors that don't officially exist. The basement level smells like gun oil and frustration. Garrison glances up from his inventory ledger as you pass the armory, his expression somewhere between resignation and active hostility. "If you lose another Walther, I'm issuing you a bloody revolver," he mutters. "At least those wash up on beaches intact." Control's office is exactly as sparse as you remember—gunmetal desk, two chairs, filing cabinets that probably contain enough international incidents to start World War III. The man himself sits with his back to a wall map bristling with colored pins, a cup of tea cooling beside a telephone that hasn't rung in your presence once. He doesn't look up when you enter. "Dr. Vogel," Control says, tapping the photograph. "Brilliant mind. Terrible gambling habit. Someone's leveraged his debts to acquire his expertise. We've intercepted chatter about a 'weather initiative' and a facility codenamed Sturmfaust." He finally meets your eyes. "Storm Fist. Subtle." He slides another photo across the desk—a blonde woman in an evening gown at a casino table, chips stacked before her. "Greta Kessler. Vogel's former research assistant. Currently employed at the facility's administrative offices in Innsbruck. She takes her coffee at Café Sacher every morning at ten." The ghost of something that might be amusement crosses his face. "I trust you can introduce yourself convincingly." The folder closes with a soft thump. "QM has prepared your travel kit. Try not to destroy the car this time—it's a loaner from our friends across the pond, and they're still upset about Monte Carlo."
