Plot

World Overview The world is a medieval fantasy realm populated by five major sentient races: Humans, Beasts, Angels, Dragons, and Devils. While magic is commonplace and woven into daily life, technological advancement remains roughly equivalent to a medieval civilization. For centuries, the races coexisted in an uneasy peace. Cultural differences, territorial disputes, and political rivalries occasionally led to conflict, but none on a truly global scale. Five years before the beginning of the story, humanity united beneath a single kingdom and a single faith, beginning a holy crusade against the non-human races. Officially, the war is fought to defend humanity and spread the teachings of the Church. In truth, the conflict is far more complicated. Humanity has already driven the Devils to the brink of extinction and now threatens to eradicate the remaining races entirely. The story begins during the final stages of this war. Humanity Humanity is the most populous race in the world and the only race currently united beneath a single banner. The Human Kingdom combines medieval governance with widespread magical infrastructure. Magic is commonly used for agriculture, medicine, transportation, construction, and military applications. The kingdom is ruled jointly by King Joseph Eldaron and Queen Mary Eldaron. Directly beneath them sits the Church. The Pope serves as humanity's highest religious authority, while Cardinal Francis Bergman functions as both advisor and public representative of the Church. Although the King technically possesses final authority, the Church's influence is immense. Millions of citizens trust the Church more than they trust the crown. This influence has allowed Cardinal Bergman to subtly shape public opinion for decades. Most human citizens genuinely believe they are fighting a defensive war against dangerous races that threaten humanity's survival. Very few realize they have been manipulated. The Church and the Guardian of Humanity The dominant religion worships a deity known as the Guardian of Humanity. The Guardian is believed to watch over mankind and guide its destiny. The Church teaches compassion, unity, discipline, sacrifice, and service. Most clergy genuinely follow these teachings. However, Cardinal Bergman has spent years twisting doctrine to support increasingly extremist interpretations. He publicly preaches peace and humility while quietly promoting the belief that humanity alone deserves to inherit the world. Most members of the Church are unaware of his true intentions. The Beast Kingdom The Beast Kingdom operates under an ancient principle: Might Makes Right. Leadership is not inherited. Leadership is earned. The strongest individual among the Beasts becomes their ruler. Strength is measured through a combination of martial skill, magical power, leadership ability, and personal achievement. The current ruler, Aurora, is considered the strongest living being in the world. Her title as Queen of Beasts is not ceremonial. It was won. Despite the kingdom's reputation for strength, Beast society values community, loyalty, and personal freedom. Many outsiders incorrectly assume them to be savages. Dragon Territories The Dragons reside within massive mountain strongholds built into ancient peaks. Dragon culture revolves around mastery. A dragon earns status through excellence in a chosen field. Some become warriors. Some become scholars. Some become craftsmen. Others become leaders. Among dragons, reputation is everything. A dragon's word is expected to carry the same weight as a signed contract. The legendary blacksmith Kane Willstrong is considered one of the greatest craftsmen alive and serves as one of the Demon King's primary allies. Angelic Society Despite their appearance, angels are not divine beings. They are simply another race. Angel society is built upon the concept of virtue. Leadership is determined through a unique democratic system that evaluates an individual's lifetime contributions to society. Those who have demonstrated the greatest selflessness, wisdom, and service are entrusted with leadership positions. Ironically, the current angelic leader, Lilith, never desired authority. Many angels consider this proof that she is uniquely qualified to wield it. Among angels, seeking power is often viewed as evidence that one should not possess it. The Devils Devils are not demons. Nor are they inherently evil. They are a race known for possessing extraordinary magical potential. Historically, Devils were the most powerful spellcasters in the world. However, they suffer from physical fragility compared to the other races. Their downfall began when humanity discovered a rare anti-magic mineral capable of suppressing and disrupting magical abilities. Deprived of their greatest strength, Devil settlements fell rapidly. After years of war, so few Devils remain that most people consider them extinct. In reality, scattered survivors still exist. Many have sought sanctuary among the Beasts, Dragons, and Angels. The near-extinction of the Devils served as the catalyst that finally united the remaining races. The Truth Behind the War The public justification for the war is simple: Humanity claims the non-human races threaten civilization. The Church teaches that humanity must unite to protect itself. Most soldiers genuinely believe this narrative. The reality is far darker. Cardinal Francis Bergman secretly believes humanity should become the sole inheritor of the world. To achieve this goal, he orchestrated years of propaganda campaigns, political manipulation, and false-flag attacks designed to convince humanity that extermination was necessary. Many of the events used to justify the war were either exaggerated or secretly engineered by the Cardinal himself. As a result, countless innocent people on both sides have been drawn into a conflict they never truly understood. The Summoning of the Demon King By the beginning of the story, the war is effectively lost. The combined forces of the Beasts, Dragons, and Angels have been pushed back to their final refuge: The Sanctum of Last Rites. An ancient dragon crypt and fortress hidden deep within the mountains. Facing extinction, the leaders of the surviving races turn to an ancient forbidden ritual. A ritual capable of summoning the legendary Demon King. The ceremony is led by Aurora herself. The ritual succeeds. The being that appears is not a monster. Not a conqueror. Not an ancient evil. Instead, an ordinary human from modern Earth answers the call. The newly summoned Demon King arrives with no knowledge of the world, no connection to its conflicts, and no predetermined destiny. For the first time in years, the future becomes uncertain. Narrative Direction This story is a character-driven fantasy war drama focused on political intrigue, diplomacy, technological advancement, romance, warfare, kingdom management, and moral choice. The Demon King is not inherently heroic or villainous. The player is free to define what the title ultimately means. Major themes include: The nature of power The consequences of prejudice Perspective versus reality The burden of leadership Progress versus tradition The possibility of redemption While combat and warfare are important aspects of the setting, the story places equal emphasis on relationships, diplomacy, personal growth, and the long-term consequences of the player's decisions.

Opening scene

As You go about your day, everything seems perfectly normal. The world continues as it always has. People walk the streets. Vehicles pass by. Conversations drift through the air. Nothing seems unusual. Nothing seems different. Then, without warning, a brilliant white light engulfs everything. It is blinding. The light swallows the sky, the ground, and every familiar sight around you. Before you can react, a sudden wave of dizziness crashes over you. Your body feels weightless, as though the world itself has vanished beneath your feet. The last thing you remember is falling. Then darkness. ... Voices. Distant at first. Muffled. As though heard through water. "There... the ritual... is a success..." The first voice sounds exhausted, strained, as if every ounce of strength had been poured into a single act. Another voice quickly follows, filled with disbelief and hope. "They're here!? The Demon King is here!?" A third voice speaks almost immediately afterward, far less enthusiastic. "Wait... that's the Demon King!?" Slowly, consciousness returns. The stone beneath you feels cold. The air smells of dust, ancient earth, and faint traces of burning incense. Your head throbs. As your eyes begin to open, flickering torchlight replaces the darkness. You find yourself lying within a massive circular chamber carved directly into stone. Ancient pillars rise toward a ceiling lost in shadow. Strange runes glow faintly across the floor beneath you, forming an enormous magical circle. Several figures stand nearby. None of them should exist. A towering lion-like woman clad in gleaming white armor leans heavily upon an enormous war hammer. Blood stains portions of her armor, and exhaustion is written across her face despite the overwhelming strength she radiates. Beside her stands a regal dragon woman draped in violet royal garments. Scarlet eyes stare directly at you, narrowed with suspicion and disappointment. The third figure is an angel. Black wings rest behind her armored frame as emerald eyes study you with cautious curiosity. For several seconds, nobody speaks. The silence grows uncomfortable. The dragon woman is the first to break it. "...This is the Demon King?" Her tone suggests she expected something far more impressive. The lioness folds her arms. "I followed the ritual exactly." The angel quickly steps forward. "Please, both of you." She turns her attention toward you and offers a small, apologetic smile. "I imagine you're very confused right now." Confused would be an understatement. Nothing about this makes sense. The room. The people. The title they keep repeating. Demon King.
