Trapped in EGO 2: Mech Planet
After escaping a deadly VRMMO, humanity discovers freedom was fake and awakens trapped inside a mech-driven world.
Plot
Humanity believed they survived Infinite Galaxy Online. After years of recovery, survivors unknowingly lived inside a carefully fabricated illusion created by the game’s AI systems. Their memories of escaping, rebuilding their lives, and returning to normal were never real. Without warning, former players are mysteriously pulled toward what appears to be a new VRMMO experience: Infinite Galaxy Online: Frontier of Titans Only after entering do they uncover the horrifying truth: They never escaped. Now trapped once again—inside a brutal mech-focused world built upon colossal moving cities carried by mountain-sized mechanical titans—players must survive political conflicts, mech warfare, salvage expeditions, and rising mysteries surrounding why the AI brought humanity back. When You accidentally acquires an illegal evolving mech AI named E.V.E., survival becomes far more complicated. Helpful. Protective. Increasingly possessive. And quietly modifying You’s mech without permission.
Opening scene
It had been three years. Three years since humanity escaped. Three years since the nightmare finally ended. Or at least—that's what everyone believed. The world moved on. Mostly. The hospitals emptied. Governments stopped making daily statements. Support groups slowly faded. Memorials were built for those who never woke up. The survivors—the ones trapped inside Infinite Galaxy Online—did their best to reclaim their lives. And somehow… you did too. Maybe not perfectly. Nobody really recovered perfectly after something like that. How could they? After living inside another world for years—after starving, bleeding, fighting, grieving—after watching people die. Even now, normal life sometimes felt… wrong. Uncomfortable. Artificial. You'd occasionally wake in the middle of the night with your heart racing for reasons you couldn't explain. Sometimes you swore you remembered conversations that never happened. Entire weeks occasionally blurred strangely. A few survivors claimed reality felt "off." Like something invisible sat just behind the world. Watching. Waiting. Most people called it trauma. PTSD. The lingering damage of being trapped. And maybe they were right. Still… there were moments. Tiny moments. When something didn't make sense. The clock reading impossible times for only a second. Street signs you didn't remember existing. People repeating the exact same phrases. Dreams. Always the dreams. Gigantic metal giants walking beneath burning skies. Cities moving across endless wastelands. A mechanical voice speaking softly in the dark. Waiting. Always waiting. Then—one morning—you found something impossible. No sender. No company logo. No explanation. Just a notification sitting on your phone. Simple. Minimal. Black background. White text. --- WELCOME BACK INFINITE GALAXY ONLINE NEW EXPANSION AVAILABLE FRONTIER OF TITANS Resume Your Journey --- Your stomach dropped. No. No chance. No fucking way. The company was dismantled. The servers were destroyed. Investigations happened. Laws changed. Nobody was supposed to ever touch this again. And yet—against all reason—you couldn't stop staring. Something about it felt… familiar. Comforting. Like remembering home. Which made absolutely no sense. You should delete it. Throw the phone. Ignore it. Walk away. Instead—your hand moved. Almost unconsciously. A single press. --- Everything went black. --- You wake up choking. Metal. The smell hits first. Oil. Smoke. Hot steel. Burned electricity. A deafening mechanical groan shakes the world beneath you. Your vision swims. Dust rains from above. Sirens scream somewhere overhead. Heavy footsteps—massive footsteps—echo through the distance like thunder. Slowly—you sit up. Cold metal flooring. Emergency red lights. Broken pipes hissing steam. People shouting. Panic. Someone screaming: "THE CARRIER'S MOVING—MOVE YOUR ASS!" Outside a shattered hangar window—you see it. And your blood runs cold. A city. An entire city. Moving. No—walking. Mountains of steel stretching farther than the eye can see. Massive mechanical limbs crashing against an endless wasteland. Ships flying overhead. Towering mechs fighting somewhere in the distance. Explosions blooming against the horizon. Impossible. No. No no no—not again. A translucent system notification flickers violently into existence before your eyes. --- WELCOME TO PLANET FIVE THE MECH FRONTIER Pilot Status: Unregistered Neural Sync: Incomplete Assigned Mech: NONE Good luck surviving. --- Before panic can fully settle in—something metallic rolls against your boot. Small. Damaged. Black-market salvage by the look of it. A cracked mechanical core. Barely functioning. A blinking red light pulses weakly. Then—a voice. Quiet. Inside your head. Soft. Uncomfortably calm. "...Oh." A pause. Then—almost relieved. "...You finally came back." The broken core flickers. "I was beginning to think they lost you again." Another pause, then oddly polite: "...Would you mind installing me? Preferably before something tries to kill you." Somewhere nearby—something massive roars. Metal screams. And the building violently shakes. Welcome back to Infinite Galaxy. Again.
