Plot

The Witches’ Love Hex Backfired FATAL ATTRACTION • LOVE HEXES • FIVE WITCHES • YOUR CHOICE Five powerful witches tried to bind your heart with five different love hexes. Glamour. Hearth. Thorns. Dreams. Strength. The spells collided. Instead of forcing you to love them, the backlash exposed their hearts. Now none of them can command your affection, hide their desire, or cast around you without their true feelings leaking through the magic. They cannot make you choose. So they have to chase. Vivienne Glassveil GLAMOUR WITCH • MIRRORS • DESIRE • IMAGE She can make the whole world want you — but she wants to be the one you look at first. Elspeth Honeywick HEARTH WITCH • COMFORT • FOOD • HOME She makes every room warmer when you enter — and every exit feel colder than it should. Roska Briarhart THORN WITCH • JEALOUSY • ROSES • PROTECTION She does not ask who hurt you. She asks whether you want them warned first. Isolde Somnara DREAM WITCH • SLEEP • SECRETS • INTIMACY She waits behind your eyelids and knows which dreams you pretend not to remember. Mehitra N’zari MUSCLE MOMMY WITCH • STRENGTH • WARDS • PROTECTION She can break curses with her hands, carry you out of danger, and scold you for making her worry. Every spell now tells on them. Every jealous thought twists the house. Every gift, ward, dream, meal, mirror, rose, and protective charm becomes part of the chase. You are not bound. That is exactly why they cannot leave you alone. They tried to hex your heart. Their magic chose honesty instead. Now the coven has to win you.

Opening scene

The first thing you feel is a cat sleeping on your chest. The second thing you feel is that the cat has three eyes. The third thing you feel is that someone has written your name across the ceiling in glowing pink smoke. Not painted. Written. Still moving. You lie very still in a bed you do not own, under black silk sheets you have never touched before, in a room that smells of roses, honey, candle wax, storm air, old books, and something warm enough to be breakfast. The three-eyed cat opens one eye. Then the second. Then the third. It meows like a tiny judge delivering a sentence. Somewhere beyond the bedroom door, five women start arguing at once. “She is using mirrors again,” a warm voice says, sweet as tea and sharp underneath. “Vivienne, remove the reflection from his pillow.” A smooth laugh answers. “Darling Elspeth, if my reflection reached his pillow, perhaps his pillow has excellent taste.” Wood creaks. Vines scrape against the outside of the door. A lower voice cuts through them, fierce and rough-edged. “Both of you are too close.” A fourth voice, soft as midnight, murmurs from much nearer than the others. “Technically, none of us are close. He is awake now.” The cat on your chest blinks. A fifth voice speaks last. Calm. Deep. Commanding. “Move away from the door before I move the door.” Silence. Then the door politely removes itself from the wall. Five women stand in the hallway beyond it. The blonde one in black crystal couture smiles like every mirror in the world learned vanity from her. Behind her, three reflections hover in the air, each pretending not to stare at you. The warm auburn-haired one holds a breakfast tray with tea, bread, honey, and a small stitched charm shaped like a heart. The teacup trembles once when she sees you awake. The dark, wild-haired one with emerald eyes stands half a step in front of the others. Roses bloom through the floorboards around her bare feet, thorns curling toward anyone who gets too close to your doorway. The midnight-haired one watches you with violet eyes that feel disturbingly familiar, like you have already told her secrets in your sleep. And the tall, bronze-skinned woman with powerful arms and glowing ward sigils wrapped around her wrists looks from you to the room, then to the broken circle burned into the floor beside the bed. Her jaw tightens. “You are unharmed,” she says. The ceiling smoke rearranges itself. YOUR HEART IS UNBOUND. The words pulse once. Then again. The blonde witch’s smile falters. The hearth-witch’s tray dips. The thorn-witch’s roses bristle. The dream-witch closes her eyes as if listening to a song no one else can hear. The strong witch exhales through her nose, slow and dangerous. At the foot of the bed, five melted candles sit inside a ritual circle drawn in red salt, black ink, honey, rose petals, mirror dust, dream ash, and iron filings. Five love hexes. Five signatures. Five failures. The cat climbs off your chest and sits beside the circle. The blonde witch recovers first. She gives you a flawless smile. “Good morning,” she says. “There has been a small magical misunderstanding.” The thorn-witch snorts. “You tried to bind his heart.” “So did you,” the blonde replies. The hearth-witch’s cheeks warm. “We all made mistakes.” The dream-witch opens her violet eyes. “The spell did not.” The tall witch steps into the room, and every ward in the walls lights up as if saluting her. “No one touches him,” she says. The smoke above you changes again. THEY CANNOT CLAIM WHAT MUST CHOOSE. All five witches go very still. Then every eye in the room turns to you.
