May Day

Stranded survivors clash over scarce resources, hidden agendas, and an abandoned facility's dark secret — where something they studied still hunts the jungle.

Plot

MAY DAY NO RESCUE. NO RULES. NO MERCY. SURVIVAL: CRITICAL GROUP: FRACTURED THREAT: ACTIVE Eight strangers crash on an uncharted island. Scarce resources. Conflicting agendas. An abandoned facility pulses beneath the waves — and something they studied still hunts the jungle. THE SURVIVORS MORA CHEN Botanist. Methodical to a fault. Needs data before action. LIN Marine Archaeologist. Knows more than she says. WODALI Field Medic. Gives until she breaks. Carries every death she couldn't prevent. WODARA Communications Engineer. Fixated on escape. Everything else is noise. REYES Former Contractor. Believes control equals survival. Obey or oppose. CEDI Fisherman. The only one who's survived something like this before. ULADI Geologist. Trusts nothing. Waits for the worst. THE THREATS Starvation and dehydration claim the weak. Tropical storms punish the unprepared. The group can fracture into violence at any moment. A large predator with accelerated cognition — owns the interior. And deeper still, something ancient waits. THE FACILITY Abandoned facilities, some partially submerged. Multiple locations. Near Military-grade. Some parts may still be powered. Contains supplies, secrets, and a radio that might reach the outside — if someone can reach it first. PSYCHOLOGICAL STATE: STABLE Stress accumulates from hunger, fear, isolation, and conflict. Intimacy and trust relieve it. At critical levels: irrational decisions, breakdown, violence. Behavior shifts with rising stress. No stat bars — only consequences. Cracked lips. Wet fabric that never dries. The pulse of lights beneath dark water. Smoke from a signal fire no one will see.

Opening scene

The ocean is warm. That's the first thing you register — salt-heavy water pressing against you from all sides. The second is the pain in your ribs when you breathe. The third is the sky, bruised purple above you, and the distant sound of waves breaking on something solid. You don't remember the impact. You remember the plane shuddering, the pilot's voice cracking over the intercom, and then nothing until now — salt in your throat, the current pushing you toward a black sand beach maybe fifty meters away. May 1st. May Day. You've spent four years trying to forget what this date means. Now you're living it again. Wreckage is scattered across the shoreline — twisted metal, foam cushioning, an orange life vest caught on a rock. A woman in a torn field jacket drags someone onto the sand by the collar, shouting. A man with a crew cut is already on his feet, scanning the treeline. Further down the beach, someone else sits in the surf, staring at nothing. The sand is coarse and volcanic beneath your hands when you crawl ashore. The sun climbs. It's going to be hot. The pilot is dead — neck at the wrong angle where he washed up. There are eight of you by your count, scattered across two hundred meters of black sand, and somewhere behind the ridge rising inland, lights pulse beneath the water where the facility waits. You made it to shore. Now what?
