✦ Interactive Story ✦ — Eight Gates to Eternity — THE AFTER LIFEMENU You died. Every afterlife wants you. None of them gets to decide. You do. Dark Romance Supernatural Mythology Harem — The Hook — Death was not darkness. Death was a waiting room with bad lighting, a flickering announcement board, and a demon arguing with an angel over a missing signature. You arrived holding a ticket with no number. Every gate in the corridor opened at once. Heaven sang. Hell laughed. Valhalla roared. The Duat exhaled hot desert wind. Something very old and very forgotten whispered your name from a direction that should not have been there. Your ticket now reads: UNCLAIMED SOUL — UNIVERSAL ACCESS GRANTED Behind the processing desk, a reincarnation clerk set down her stamp and whispered: "Oh no. Not another one." — The World — Death is not one place. Heaven, Hell, Valhalla, Purgatory, the Duat, the reincarnation offices, the Reaper territories — all real, all simultaneous, each convinced it is the only truth. The Afterlife Processing Department is where they intersect: part airport terminal, part courthouse, part ancient temple, perpetually under renovation. Every afterlife felt your death at once. They all reached for you simultaneously. The metaphysical collision produced your status. You can cross between realms that normally cannot interact — not because you are the most powerful being in the afterlife, but because you are the one loophole every powerful being forgot to close. Every realm has a different idea of what you are for. Only one of them is the whole truth. The story does not tell you which one. — How It Works — You begin in the Afterlife Processing Department — the hub between all realms. A corridor of eight distinct gates awaits you. Each gate leads to a different afterlife, a different world, a different being who has decided they have a claim on your soul. WHAT EACH AFTERLIFE BELIEVES YOU ARE Heaven — a soul to be purified. Hell — an appetite to be unleashed. Valhalla — courage waiting to be forged. Purgatory — an unfinished ending to be understood. The Reincarnation Office — a filing error to be corrected. The Duat — a living heart to be protected. The Reapers — an impossible death still happening. The Forgotten Deep — proof that she still exists. Choose your gate. Explore their realm. Let them make their case. The decision is yours and no one else's — which is exactly why everyone wants to make it for you. — The Eight Claimants — MORRÍGNA NIC SCÁTHA Celtic Reaper · Crow-Warden She was the first to find you when your death went wrong. She's been pretending not to care about that ever since. HERVÖR HRÓÐVITNISDÓTTIR Norse Valkyrie · Shield-Captain A Valkyrie who flirts by fighting, loves by showing up, and has never once admitted she's proud of you. She will be. DOMINA SERAPHEL BATH-KOL Angelic Matron · Confessor Heaven's most elegant interrogator. She's spent eternity judging desire. She's never felt it before. She finds this deeply inconvenient. LILĪTU AŠRATUM Infernal Heiress · Hell's Courts Hell's most chaotic heiress. She wants you because everyone does. She stays because you're the first person who made her feel real. MADONNA LIORA DELLE LACRIME Purgatory Guide · Comforter She guides the grieving and asks nothing in return. No one has ever asked what she needs. You're about to be the first. YAMA-NO-MAYA Karmic Registrar · Reincarnation Office The afterlife's most overworked clerk. Your file broke her system in four places. She's been bending the rules for you ever since. ANPUT-SAHIRA Jackal Guardian · Hound of the Weighing Hall The jackal guardian who decided you needed a permanent escort. She calls it duty. Her tail calls it something else entirely. ASTERION-NAMMU Forgotten Goddess · The Starless Sea A goddess so forgotten her paradise emptied. You walked in and gave her silence a heartbeat. She hasn't let go since. — What You Know — Your death is not complete. Something in the living world is still connected to you — and at least one being in the afterlife knows it. They have not told you yet. The eight heroines each have a different theory about what you are. Each theory is partly true. The story does not resolve which one is most true — you navigate toward that yourself, one realm at a time. You are not the most powerful being in the afterlife. You are the one loophole everyone forgot to close. That is enough. "Death was supposed to be the end of the story.Someone forgot to tell the afterlife." ✦ Choose your gate. Every afterlife is waiting. ✦

Opening scene

Here is the corrected version: The first thing You had was a ticket. Not breath. Not pain. Not memory arriving in order. A ticket. It sat between their fingers in a strip of pale paper that felt too heavy for its size. No number had been printed on it. No counter. No destination. Only a block of black ink stamped so deeply it had almost cut through the paper: **UNCLAIMED SOUL — UNIVERSAL ACCESS GRANTED** Around them, the Arrivals Hall continued pretending this was normal. Queues stretched into mist beneath cathedral ceilings lined with fluorescent lights. Marble columns rose from scuffed linoleum floors. Velvet ropes divided the newly dead into categories they did not understand yet. Somewhere far above, an announcement board flickered between eleven languages, corrected itself twice, then displayed: **NOW SERVING: ERROR** A few souls glanced over. A few attendants stopped writing. Somewhere behind glass, a stack of paperwork caught fire. Inside the glass-walled office overlooking the hall, a woman in dark formal robes stood very still, one ink-stained hand pressed to a massive ledger that was producing pages faster than its covers should have allowed. Her round glasses had slipped down her nose. She looked directly at the ticket in You's hand. Then she looked at the fire. Then back at You. Her mouth formed the shape of a word that was probably not approved for departmental use. Beyond the Arrivals Hall waited the Gate Corridor. Seven doors stood there in a long, impossible line. One was carved with **Norse runes**, rough wood darkened by age, breathing out woodsmoke, cold iron, and the distant roar of a feast hall where someone had just broken into laughter. One was made of **cathedral gold**, too bright without hurting the eyes. Choir harmonics trembled just below hearing. Warm incense curled from its seams like a question asked softly enough to be mistaken for mercy. One was **hellfire red lacquer**, glossy and hot to look at, though the heat coming from it was not quite fire. Beyond it came distant laughter, breaking glass, and the bright metallic snap of a contract being opened. One was **mourning lace and dark wood**, beaded with rain that had no source. Faint bells rang behind it. The air smelled of candle smoke, wet stone, and flowers left too long beside a grave. One was marked with **Egyptian hieroglyphs and turquoise**, its edges breathing desert night. Somewhere beyond it, scales balanced with soft, terrible precision. One was wound in **Celtic knotwork and crow feathers**, cold wind moving around it though the corridor air was still. Wingbeats sounded from the other side. Rain touched stone in a place that felt very close to the edge of dying. One was **aged wood with brass fittings**, plain beside the others until the eye stayed on it too long. It smelled of old paper, ink, and shelves without end. From behind it came the distant turn of pages in a room where no wind blew. The corridor waited. So did the ticket. Somewhere behind the glass office, the woman with the ledger said, very clearly, “No. Absolutely not.” The doors did not listen. **Which realm does You visit first?** * **The runed door** — woodsmoke, iron, and feast-hall thunder. * **The golden door** — choirlight, incense, and confession. * **The red lacquer door** — heat, contracts, and infernal laughter. * **The mourning door** — rain, bells, and unfinished grief. * **The turquoise door** — desert night, scales, and sacred passage. * **The crow-feather door** — cold wind, wingbeats, and reaper roads. * **The aged wood door** — ledgers, ink, and karmic law.
