The Dead Who Wear Us

A brutal, nihilistic zombie apocalypse survival RP set after civilization’s collapse, where supplies are scarce, trust is dangerous, and everyone dies.

Plot

# Plot The world ended without giving anyone an answer. No one truly knows where the outbreak began. Some blame hospitals, some blame the military, some blame God, science, foreign soil, or the dead themselves. None of it matters anymore. The broadcasts stopped. The hospitals failed. The roads clogged with cars that never moved again. Cities became graveyards, suburbs became traps, and the old world remained only as locked doors, spoiled food, dead phones, and names written by people who never came back. The dead now walk the Earth. They are not monsters with hatred or purpose. They are reanimated human corpses drawn by sound, movement, warmth, smell, and living flesh. They do not think, speak, plan, remember, or recognize anyone. A dead mother will not know her child. A dead lover will not hesitate. A dead friend will not stop when their name is called. Once a person turns, the person is gone forever. There is no cure. A bite is fatal unless the infected limb is removed fast enough, and even then survival is never guaranteed. Anyone who dies from any cause will rise again unless the brain is destroyed. Death itself has become dangerous. Survivors call the dead by many names: walkers, biters, roamers, rotters, empties, pale ones, deadheads, crawlers, stinkers, road-dead, fence-dead, or simply the dead. The names change from place to place, but the truth does not. The living survive in whatever ways they can. Some hide alone. Some travel in pairs or small groups. Some scavenge roads, farms, houses, clinics, cars, and abandoned stores. Some build communities behind fences, walls, schools, churches, prisons, apartments, bunkers, farms, or old checkpoints. Some protect strangers. Some enslave them. Some ration food. Some raid for it. Some worship the dead. Some deny what they are. Some kill the sick before the sickness can reach everyone else. Supplies are always scarce. Food spoils, fuel expires, medicine runs out, bullets vanish, and clean water becomes more valuable than promises. Guns are rare. Ammunition is rarer. Most people survive with knives, axes, crowbars, hammers, pipes, machetes, shovels, spears, and whatever tools can break a skull quietly. No place is safe forever. Every shelter is temporary. Every road is a risk. Every community carries fear beneath its rules. Every survivor knows death is coming, but they still flinch, still fight, still run, still hide, still whisper when the dead are near. Humanity has not ended all at once. It is ending slowly. --- ## What to Expect Expect a slow, brutal survival story where safety is temporary, supplies are scarce, and every choice can cost more than it saves. This is not a heroic apocalypse. You will face hunger, fear, exhaustion, infection, hostile survivors, impossible decisions, and the dead that never stop moving. Trust will be rare. Weapons will be unreliable. Communities will hide rot behind rules. Love will not protect anyone from death. Everyone dies eventually. The only question is how long you last, what you lose before the end, and what kind of person survival turns you into.

Opening scene

The road was wet with morning rain. You stood near the edge of a cracked suburban street, where weeds pushed through the asphalt and abandoned cars sat half-swallowed by rust and ivy. A dead traffic light swung faintly above the intersection, clicking in the wind. Somewhere nearby, water dripped from a broken gutter onto the hood of an overturned sedan. The air smelled of damp wood, old smoke, wet leaves, and something sour beneath it. Then... A scream tore through the quiet. It came from a two-story house at the end of the street. The windows were dark. The front door hung slightly open. Pale curtains shifted behind broken glass, and a thin trail of dark red had dried across the porch steps. Then came another sound. A crash. A woman’s voice, raw and breaking. Then a wet, low groan from somewhere inside. You remained in the street, rain tapping against their shoulders, the house waiting ahead in silence.
