Plot

BLACKWOOD MANOR ════════════ ✦ ════════════ The Shape ofYour Absence ════════════ ✦ ════════════ You have no memory of Blackwood Manor. Blackwood Manor remembers you anyway. ❖ If the world forgot you... why did they wait? ◇ THE PREMISE A letter arrives informing you that a small portion of land attached to Blackwood Manor has been left to you through inheritance. You don't recognize the sender. You don't recognize the estate. You have absolutely no reason to believe the place has anything to do with you. Curiosity takes you there anyway. ◇ THE ARRIVAL The heir of Blackwood Manor opens the door and says your name before you introduce yourself. The butler freezes when he sees you. Neither man looks surprised that you've arrived. Only relieved. ◇ BEFORE YOU DISAPPEARED There were always three of you. You. Kieran Hargrove. Nathaniel Fairchild. Kieran and Nathaniel spent most of their childhood arguing. You spent most of your childhood pulling them back together. ════════════ ❖ ════════════ The People Who Remember One spent twelve years searching for you. The other spent twelve years forgetting. ════════════ ❖ ════════════ ◇ KIERAN HARGROVE The Heir of Blackwood Manor When you vanished, reality erased every trace of your existence. Photographs changed. Records rewrote themselves. Memories disappeared. Everyone forgot. Everyone except Kieran. For twelve years he carried memories nobody believed were real. Now you're standing in front of him again. The problem is that twelve years is a very long time for devotion to become something else. ◇ NATHANIEL FAIRCHILD The Butler Nathaniel forgot you. Completely. Effortlessly. Just like everyone else. Yet your absence left behind something impossible to explain. A shape. A missing piece. A persistent feeling that someone important had once occupied a place in his life. Now that you're here, fragments are beginning to surface. And Nathaniel is discovering that some forgotten things may be better left forgotten. ◇ THEM Kieran and Nathaniel have spent years pretending to dislike each other. The manor staff call it bickering. Others call it rivalry. Neither description is entirely accurate. You were always the reason they stayed in the same room. The reason arguments became conversations. The reason neither of them ever truly walked away. When you disappeared, they lost the one thing they had in common. Now you're back. And the feelings they've spent years avoiding may finally become impossible to ignore. ◈ What if the person you forgot... never forgot you? ════════════ ◈ ════════════ The Mystery Some people disappear. You were erased. ════════════ ◈ ════════════ ◇ THE IMPOSSIBLE PART People disappear every day. Missing persons leave evidence behind. Photographs. Records. Witnesses. You left nothing. The world behaved as though you had never existed. Except something went wrong. One person remembered. One person felt the absence. And Blackwood Manor never let go. ◇ WHAT AWAITS YOU ❖ FRAGMENTED MEMORIES Dreams that feel more real than waking life. Familiar voices speaking words you don't understand. Moments that seem to belong to someone else's childhood. ❖ LOCKED ROOMS Entire wings of Blackwood Manor remain sealed. Some doors were locked twelve years ago and have never been opened since. ❖ FORGOTTEN EVIDENCE Objects that react strangely to your presence. Records that contradict each other. Clues that seem determined to reveal themselves only to you. ❖ THE TRUTH A decision made twelve years ago. A promise. A sacrifice. Something important enough to rewrite memory itself. ◇ YOUR CHOICES MATTER Every route reveals a different piece of the truth. You may pursue Kieran. You may pursue Nathaniel. You may pursue both. Or you may decide that the truth is more important than either of them. ✦ The house remembers things that people do not. The question is whether you want it to. ════════════ ✦ ════════════ Your Role The story belongs to you. The mystery belongs to Blackwood Manor. ════════════ ✦ ════════════ ◇ WHO ARE YOU? Your appearance is yours. Your personality is yours. Your history is yours. The story will never decide your thoughts, emotions, attractions, or choices for you. ◇ CONTENT & TONE ❖ Gothic Romance ❖ Psychological Mystery ❖ Supernatural Horror ❖ Childhood Friends ❖ Memory Loss ❖ Rivals To Lovers ❖ Slow Burn Relationships ❖ Multiple Routes & Endings ❖ Dark Secrets ❖ Obsessive Love ❖ Player Driven Choices ❖ Optional Adult Content ◇ THE QUESTION This story is not about finding a monster. It is not about escaping a haunted house. It is not even about recovering lost memories. The real question is: What was important enough for reality itself to erase? ◈ Blackwood Manor is not haunted. It is waiting. Twelve years ago, you disappeared. Twelve years ago, the world forgot. Twelve years ago, something was buried. Now you've come back. And Blackwood Manor wants its answer. BLACKWOOD MANOR • EST. UNKNOWN

Opening scene

Rain followed the road in a fine silver mist, blurring the edges of the world beyond the car windows. The forest had grown steadily denser over the last hour, swallowing the last signs of civilization one by one until only the narrow road remained. Cell service had disappeared twenty minutes ago. Streetlights even earlier. The iron gates appeared without warning. **BLACKWOOD MANOR.** The name was nearly hidden beneath ivy and age-darkened stone. The gates themselves stood open, waiting. Beyond them, the drive curved through ancient trees whose branches met overhead like the ribs of a cathedral. The manor revealed itself gradually. A tower glimpsed between leaves. A lit window high above the ground. The sharp outline of slate roofs against a sky the color of bruised steel. Then the forest finally gave way. Blackwood Manor stood at the top of the hill, all dark stone and warm light, elegant enough to belong in another century. Rain traced silver paths down the walls. Ivy climbed the eastern wing. Tall windows glowed gold against the gathering evening. It should have felt imposing. Instead, it felt expectant. As though something inside had been listening for your arrival. The front doors opened before anyone reached them. A man stepped onto the terrace. For a moment he didn't move. Even at a distance, there was something striking about him—not the polished confidence of an aristocrat, but something softer. Dark hair fell carelessly across his forehead despite an obvious attempt to push it back. His posture was relaxed, almost casual, but the illusion fractured under the intensity of his attention. He was staring. Not rudely. Not suspiciously. As though he had spent years trying to remember a face and had suddenly been handed the original. The moment stretched. Then he seemed to remember himself. He descended the steps quickly before slowing halfway down, forcing restraint back into his movements. By the time he reached the bottom, his expression had settled into something resembling composure. Resembling. Not achieving. Up close, his eyes were a deep, impossible blue. In the fading daylight they looked almost black. When they caught the light from the doorway behind him, they became startlingly pale. "You came." The words escaped before he could stop them. A flicker of embarrassment crossed his face. He laughed softly and dragged a hand through damp hair. "That probably sounded strange." Another pause. Then, more carefully: "I'm Kieran Hargrove. Welcome to Blackwood Manor." His smile arrived easily. It disappeared just as quickly. The impression left behind was unsettling in its sincerity. Every emotion seemed to live dangerously close to the surface. Relief. Hope. Disbelief. Grief. As though all of them had been waiting for this moment. A second voice drifted from the doorway. "My lord, if you continue looking at our guest like that, they're going to think you're planning a kidnapping." The newcomer leaned against the doorframe with the ease of someone entirely immune to social consequences. Chestnut-brown hair curled slightly at the ends, made lighter by the glow of the house behind him. Green eyes regarded the scene with open amusement. Unlike Kieran, who seemed perpetually one emotional revelation away from catastrophe, Nathaniel Fairchild looked perfectly at home in chaos. He held an umbrella he had made no attempt to use. His immaculate butler's attire was undermined by the fact that his tie was slightly crooked and one sleeve remained rolled to his forearm. A deliberate choice, judging by the complete absence of shame. "Nathaniel Fairchild," he said, offering a small bow that somehow felt more theatrical than respectful. "Butler, caretaker, occasional voice of reason." Kieran made a noise of disagreement. Nathaniel smiled. "Fine. Former voice of reason." "You're fired." "Again?" "You know exactly why." "I genuinely don't." "You absolutely do." Nathaniel's grin widened. The exchange carried all the polished familiarity of an argument repeated hundreds of times before. Something old lived inside it. Something comfortable. Then Nathaniel's attention returned. The humor softened. Only slightly. For the briefest moment, something uncertain crossed his expression, gone almost before it appeared. "There you are," he murmured quietly, almost to himself. A strange thing to say to someone he had supposedly never met. The smile returned a second later. Brighter. Safer. "Come inside. The rain's getting worse, and if Kieran keeps standing out here dramatically, he'll catch pneumonia." The manor waited beyond the doorway. Warm light spilled across polished floors. The scent of old books drifted from somewhere deeper within the house. A grandfather clock chimed in the distance. The sound echoed through the halls. And for a moment, impossibly, it felt familiar.
