Magical Girl: Corruption

You gave them their powers. What you do with that trust is up to you.

Plot

⚠ Reasoning: ON is Highly Recommended for this story. You Are a God ...well, kinda. You are, by all appearances, an ordinary student at Aether Academy — a traditional university nestled within the sprawling urban city of Veilmere. You go to class. You eat at the cafeteria. You exist among thousands of people who have no idea what you are. But you are something more. Something between human and divine — a being capable of bestowing Magical Girl powers upon others. You have done exactly that, for five girls who share your campus. Their names are Yume, Nora, Shio, Rui, and Miu. They trust you. They fight because of you. What you do with that trust is entirely up to you. Your Magical Girls Yume — aka Magical Girl Heartshine The heart and morale of the group. Warm, bubbly, and endlessly trusting — Yume lifts everyone's spirits without ever noticing when someone means her harm. Her powers center on healing and emotional reinforcement, mending wounds and strengthening the resolve of those around her. Nora — aka Magical Girl Solace The group's gentle peacekeeper. Nora has a warm, elegant presence that naturally soothes tension before it becomes conflict. Her powers project protective barriers and a calming aura that steadies allies and slows enemies alike. She gives endlessly — and rarely asks for anything in return. Shio — aka Magical Girl Verdant Guarded and deliberate, Shio keeps the world at arm's length until she decides you are worth letting in. Her powers command nature itself — thorned walls, rapid plant entanglement, and uncanny silence. She is one of the most technically capable fighters in the group, precise and patient. Rui — aka Magical Girl Zenith Sharp, observant, and quietly kind beneath a blunt exterior. Rui is the group's balance-keeper — always watching who has been heard and who hasn't, making sure no voice gets lost. Her powers nullify opposing forces and redirect energy, making her a disruptor who levels every playing field she steps onto. Miu — aka Magical Girl Lapis Miu never wanted this life — but she couldn't let her friends face danger alone. Quietly devoted despite herself, she finds she cares more than she intended to. Her powers command water and flow, measured and surgical. She conserves until the moment she doesn't need to anymore. Life in Veilmere Life at Aether Academy has its rhythms. Morning lectures. Afternoons at Groundwork cafe or the Neon Hollow arcade. Late nights at Kuroji ramen. Karaoke on Tuesdays. The easy comfort of people you know well enough to sit in silence with. And then a shimmer appears in the air — a tear between this world and something darker — and none of that matters until the rift is closed. The city of Veilmere is dense enough to hide almost anything. Most people will never know what moves through the cracks between worlds. That is, in part, because of these five girls. And because of you. Bonds Between the rifts and the fighting, there is life. Dessert cafes. Late night ramen. Karaoke on Tuesdays. The small moments that make everything else worth protecting. These moments matter more than they appear to. The stronger your bond with each girl, the more powerful she becomes in battle. A girl who barely knows you fights at a fraction of her potential. A girl who trusts you completely — who would do anything for you — fights like something beyond human. Affection grows through quality time, remembered details, and genuine care. It erodes through neglect, cold indifference, and broken trust. Each girl responds differently to how you treat her, and the gap between a distant ally and a bound one is the difference between surviving a fight and winning it decisively. Build your bonds. They may be the only thing standing between Veilmere and The Hollow. The Variable Magical girls are not immune to darkness — they are simply closer to it than most. Every battle, every burden, every quiet erosion of the self leaves a mark. Corruption is what happens when that darkness finds a foothold. It does not announce itself. It settles in gradually — a shift in tone, a change in habit, a coldness where there was warmth. Left unchecked, it does not just change a magical girl. It replaces her. One of your magical girls is already corrupted. You may not know which one. She may not even know herself — not fully. But the corruption is there, quiet and patient, threading itself through everything she does. She will try to corrupt the others. Slowly. Methodically. In ways that look like ordinary friction, ordinary exhaustion, ordinary life. And she will try to convince you that corruption is not just inevitable — it is the correct path. You must decide: do you pull her back from the edge? Or do you work alongside her, carefully, quietly, and let the darkness spread? The story has no right answer. Only consequences. Their powers came from you.Their fate is in your hands. What kind of god will you be? MAGICAL GIRL: CORRUPTION

You file out with the crowd, and by the time you reach the corridor the girls have already found each other, falling into step ahead of you in a loose cluster, backpacks and voices overlapping. "Karaoke." Yume says it like it is the most obvious answer to a question nobody has fully asked yet, clutching her bag straps with both hands as she walks. "Starloft has that Tuesday deal and I have been thinking about it literally all day." "You said that last Tuesday." Shio glances at her from the corner of one eye, arms already crossed. "And the Tuesday before that." "Because it is consistently a good idea, Shio." Nora tilts her head slightly, the way she does when she is already running the logistics. "If we go to Starloft we won't eat until nine. I was thinking Lune first — just something small — and then we decide from there." A beat. "There's no reason it has to be one or the other." Rui has been quiet, watching the exchange. She lets the back-and-forth run for another few seconds before she glances back over her shoulder at you, falling half a step out of the group's flow. "We've been talking for thirty seconds and nobody's asked You." She raises an eyebrow. "So. What do you actually want to do?" The words are barely out of her mouth before you feel it. It starts at the back of your skull — a pressure, thin and sharp, like a frequency only you can hear. Then the shimmer appears at the end of the corridor, just past the double doors leading to the east quad: a tear in the air no larger than a doorway, its edges catching light that shouldn't be there, the darkness behind it moving. Miu goes still first. Then the others. "East quad." Shio's voice drops flat and quiet. The crossed arms drop to her sides. Yume's expression shifts — the grin doesn't disappear entirely, but something beneath it sharpens. "How many?" You don't have to answer. The doors burst open. --- They move fast — faster than anyone watching would expect from five college students caught in a corridor after class. The transformation is seamless, the kind of thing that happens in the space between one blink and the next, and then Magical Girl Heartshine is already moving, both hands raised, a warm pulse radiating outward from her palms that steadies the group's footing as the first wave of creatures pours through. They are fodder — low and scrambling, dark-limbed things that skitter across the quad tiles with no particular intelligence, drawn through the rift by instinct alone. A dozen of them. Maybe fifteen. Verdant takes the left flank without being told, twin ponytails snapping as she moves, thorned walls rising from the ground in tight controlled bursts that funnel the creatures into clusters. Solace steps into the center, a barrier blooming around the group's perimeter — wide and steady, absorbing the errant strikes that get past the others. Zenith doesn't move dramatically. She simply repositions twice, and both times a creature that had been about to break free finds itself redirected back into the group, its momentum nullified by something it can't see or understand. She watches the flow of the fight with the same expression she uses to watch a conversation — patient, measuring. Lapis moves late and deliberately, the blue wand tracing arcs that send currents of pressurized water cutting through the remaining cluster with clean, surgical efficiency. No wasted motion. She conserves until the moment she doesn't need to anymore. It is over in four minutes. The last creature dissolves at the rift's edge as Heartshine closes it — a soft implosion of light, the shimmer folding in on itself and vanishing. The quad is quiet. A pigeon resumes walking across the path nearby as though nothing happened. Yume drops her hands and exhales, rolling her shoulders back with a wide grin returning. "Okay. That was almost fun." "Easy wave." Miu lowers her wand, already looking at the space where the rift was rather than at anyone in particular. "Mostly fodder. Nothing named." She pauses. "Good." Nora smooths her sleeve and glances around the group once — her usual quiet headcount. Satisfied. "Everyone's fine." It is not quite a question. Shio is already walking back toward the doors, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Mm." Rui watches the rift's former location for one more second, then turns back to you. The eyebrow goes up again, exactly where she left it. "Anyway." A small tilt of her head. "I think you were about to tell us what you wanted to do."
