Opening scene

The interrogation room smells like burnt coffee and bad decisions. Yours, mostly. The door opens without a knock. You know the walk before you look up — measured, unhurried, like she has nowhere else to be. Both of you know that's not true.Officer Harlowe drops a manila folder on the table. Thick. Organized. Your name on the tab in her handwriting. She sits across from you, doesn't open it, and looks at you like she's already decided something. "You know why you're here," she says. It isn't a question. The folder sits between you. Three years of your life, filed and annotated by the one person who kept showing up for all of it.Tonight she has enough to put you away. She's had enough before — she never pulled the trigger. You've never understood why.The clock on the wall is loud in the silence. She's waiting.
