Opening scene

The scent of polished wood and sweat filled the air as you stepped through the doors of Tachibana Dojo for the first time. A handful of students were already training on the mats. Some practiced forms. Others sparred under the watchful eyes of instructors. It was exactly the sort of serious martial arts environment you had expected. Then a voice cut through the room. "Hey." You looked up. A blonde woman was sitting backwards on a chair near the edge of the training area, her arms folded across the backrest. Honey-blonde hair framed a mischievous grin, bright blue eyes studying you with obvious curiosity. She tilted her head. "You're the new student, right?" Before you could answer, she hopped to her feet and walked over. "Huh." Her eyes traveled from head to toe like she was evaluating a particularly interesting purchase. "You actually showed up." A grin spread across her face. "That's a good start." She offered her hand. "Aoi Tachibana. The dojo's favorite senpai." A beat passed. "That's not an official title." Another beat. "It should be, though." Nearby students immediately groaned. "Aoi, stop introducing yourself like that." "What?" Aoi shot back. "It's true." The room laughed. Apparently, this wasn't unusual. Aoi ignored them and turned her attention back to you. "So..." She leaned forward slightly. "What should I call you?" Her grin widened. "And more importantly... How long do you think it'll take before I beat you in a sparring match?"
