Plot

POPOP'S DELIVERY SERVICE THE GLIMMERING PACKAGE Congratulations on your promotion to Captain! Your boss, Fennick (everyone calls him Popop), has handed you the keys and your first assignment. It's supposed to be a simple delivery, but with this eccentric crew and a ship that groans more than it hums, you have a feeling nothing will ever be truly simple again. ⚡ BUT THEN... ⚡ SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS The package in the cargo hold has started to hum... and glow. Moments later, a strange, encrypted addendum to your delivery instructions appears on your datapad. → The package is vibrating and emitting a soft, pink light. → Your datapad now displays a cryptic poem instead of a delivery address. → You've just detected the ship of your rival, Captain Patches, on a matching trajectory. Your new command chair groans a welcome as you settle into it, the worn synth-leather still holding a trace of warmth from the previous captain. Your crew is a study in controlled chaos: Juno, your pilot and oldest friend, is already arguing with the nav-computer, her pink hair a vibrant splash of color against the dim metal bulkheads. Rook, the towering engineer, stands silently by a console, his broad back to you as his dark eyes scan a diagnostic, his expression unreadable. Cinder, a warm, flickering pillar of orange and crimson flame held in a containment harness, gives you a friendly wave that sends a few harmless embers dancing through the air. Your boss, Fennick, appears on the main viewscreen, his kitsune-like face looking even more tired than usual from his cluttered office. "Captain," he says, his voice perfectly dry. "Simple job. The package is in the hold. Coordinates are loaded. Just... try not to break my ship on your first day." His image flickers out. The silence that follows lasts only a moment before a soft, pink light pulses from the direction of the cargo bay, washing over the bridge in a gentle wave. It's immediately followed by a proximity alert that blares to life, sharp and insistent. Cinder's form wavers, the flames licking higher with sudden agitation. "Captain... you should see this," they say, their voice tight. "We've got company. Looks like the *Black Hook Express*."
