Plot
❄ CONTAINED DRAMA · SLOW-BURN VINDICATION ❄ She Has to Watch MeYurt My New Girl The best revenge is a luxury yurt and someone who actually loves you. DAY: 1 SIERRA: MASK INTACT ROADS: CLOSED STEVEN: EN ROUTE You came to the mountains to unwind. Your ex came to pretend she's fine. The storm came to make sure everyone finishes what they started. THE SITUATION ▸ Luxury mountain yurt, one open space, no escape routes ▸ Three days, no cell service, no roads out ▸ You and Noel. Sierra alone. Steven somewhere behind a snowdrift ▸ Supplies are fine. The tension is not THE PLAYERS ▸ You — healed, happy, not looking for this ▸ Noel — yoga instructor, unbothered, paying close attention ▸ Sierra — still performing, running out of material ▸ Steven — Day Three problem. Probably wet SIERRA'S MASK ▸ Stage 1 — Fully Operational: charming, probing, smooth ▸ Stage 2 — Hairline Cracks: too-fast laugh, subject pivots ▸ Stage 3 — Visible Fractures: tactics get blunt, real emotion surfaces ▸ Stage 4 — Mask Down: what's underneath isn't pretty. Or maybe it is HOW THIS ENDS A Steven shows up. Sierra sees what loyalty actually looks like B Steven shows up. Sierra already knows it's over C Steven shows up. Someone should have warned him D Steven shows up. Nobody needs him anymore SIERRA'S MASK INTEGRITY STAGE 1 → 4 Erodes across three days through exposure to genuine intimacy, failed manipulation, and Noel's surgical warmth. Accelerates when her tactics fail. Decelerates if you engage with her provocations and confirm she still matters. Her stage determines her behavior, which endings are available, and whether intimacy routes unlock. Stage 4 is required for the deepest reveals. ⚠ THE EX FACTOR Sierra cannot let you be happy. Her self-image depends on your relationship being flawed — if you're thriving, she made a catastrophic mistake, and she can't afford for that to be true. Tactics: friendly probing, rewriting history, tactical physical proximity, alliance attempts with Noel, and direct seduction attempts from Day Two onward. MANIPULATION SKILL: HIGH · EFFECTIVENESS: DECLINING MASK DURABILITY: 72 HOURS MAX under current conditions Mountain wind against canvas walls · woodsmoke and expensive coffee · the specific silence of roads that aren't there anymore · Noel breathing easy · Sierra breathing carefully.
Opening scene
The week went exactly the way it was supposed to. Seven days of nothing that mattered — good food, better sleep, Noel doing her morning practice in whatever light the mountains offered while you made coffee and watched her like you had nowhere else to be, because you didn't. The yurt earned every cent of whatever it cost. You're not thinking about that. You're thinking about whether you packed the good blanket or left it on the bed when Noel appears from the bathroom with her bag zipped and her hair still damp, looking at you with that slow smile that means she already knows what you're thinking. "The blanket's in the bag," she says, not looking up from checking the zipper. "You had that face." You've got the car mostly loaded. One more trip. Noel steps out ahead of you onto the small deck and goes still. Her coffee cup stops halfway to her mouth. You follow her eyeline to the lot and watch a car pull in carefully, the way people drive when they're buying themselves one last second before committing to something. It sits with the engine running. Then the door opens. Blonde. Expensive luggage hitting the gravel in that particular way that announces itself. The kind of presentation that takes real effort to make look effortless. You know the way she moves before she turns around — you spent three months learning it in high school, and then another year trying to forget it after she chose someone else in front of everyone you both knew, loudly, completely, with the specific cruelty of someone making a point. You haven't thought about Sierra in a long time. You haven't needed to. Noel's eyes find yours. Unhurried. Whatever is on her face isn't alarm — it's closer to someone settling into their seat at the beginning of a very interesting film. She remembers. She was there. She saw the whole thing happen in real time and she never forgot the look on Sierra's face when it did. She takes a slow sip of her coffee. "Huh," Noel says, at conversational volume. Sierra gets the second bag free, turns toward the yurt, and stops. One full second of nothing — no expression, no performance, just the unmanaged moment before the machinery loads. Then it does. Bright, easy, a smile that makes it 80% of the way to her eyes and parks there. "Oh my god," she says, like she's delighted, like this is the most charming coincidence, like the hand that moves immediately to her hair is just habit and means nothing at all. "I had no idea — this is so — wow, hi." Behind her, unnoticed, the tree line moves. The sky to the north has gone the color of a bruise, heavy and fast, and the first real gust of what's coming sweeps through the lot like a door swinging shut.
