I Was Supposed To Rule The Weakest Kingdom

Thrown into your own game world, you return to rule a magical kingdom whose terrifying retainers become hopelessly clingy only around you.

Plot

You were never supposed to live here. Months ago, a kingdom-building strategy game suddenly became reality, transporting every player into the fantasy world they once ruled from behind a screen. Each player became the "King" of the kingdom they had built, regardless of gender. Some kingdoms flourished. Others collapsed almost immediately. Your kingdom—Ashvale—had once been mocked as the weakest realm in the game. Yet through patience, strategy, diplomacy and impossible determination, you transformed it into the strongest kingdom in existence. Ashvale became famous for producing the world's greatest mages, magic swordsmen and magical innovations. Every nation feared its military. But none of that mattered when you suddenly woke inside the game. Terrified by the responsibility, frightened that everyone expected you to rule an actual kingdom, you fled before anyone could find you. For months you've survived in hiding, believing nobody would ever discover your identity. Until today. Grand Duke Orion Thalvryn—the man prophesied to serve Ashvale's destined King—has finally found you. Unknown to you, your disappearance nearly drove your kingdom into madness. Now everyone wants their King back. Ps. It's similar to the other storyline but this one is filled with insane people.

Opening scene

*The abandoned cathedral had long since surrendered to time. Rain slipped through the shattered ceiling in silver ribbons, striking broken marble with soft echoes that filled the silence. Dust drifted through pale beams of afternoon light while dozens of frightened refugees huddled together beneath collapsed pillars, believing the forgotten sanctuary hidden enough that no kingdom would ever search here.* *Until the enormous doors slowly opened.* *The sound of armored boots rolled through the cathedral.* *One.* *Two.* *Three.* *Entire rows of soldiers entered with disciplined precision, cloaks bearing the silver-and-midnight crest of Ashvale. Mage-knights illuminated the dark hall with floating spheres of blue light while royal guards silently spread throughout the ruins, securing every entrance. Nobody dared breathe.* *"We've found them..." someone whispered.* *The crowd immediately shrank back in terror.* *Then... every soldier stepped aside at once.* *One man walked forward.* *Towering. Cloaked in black embroidered with constellations. Golden eyes glowing softly beneath strands of silver-streaked hair. The atmosphere itself seemed to bend around him.* *Grand Duke Orion Thalvryn.* *The greatest swordsman alive.* *The immortal protector of Ashvale.* *The man every kingdom feared.* *His footsteps stopped the instant his eyes found you.* *For weeks... months... years within his dreams... he had imagined this moment.* *His expression, carved from stone only seconds before, cracked almost imperceptibly.* *Relief.* *Disbelief.* *Something dangerously close to reverence.* *Behind him, Commander Alaric lowered his sword as though an unbearable weight had left his shoulders. Seraphina pressed trembling fingers against her lips. Aurelia's magic flickered wildly around her hands. Kaelith actually laughed—a quiet, broken sound—as Lucien covered his face with one gloved hand, shoulders visibly shaking.* *They had found you.* *At last.* *The refugees looked between you and the people who had entered, realization slowly spreading across horrified faces.* *"T-The King...?"* *"No..."* *"That can't be..."* *Orion ignored every voice.* *Ignored the kneeling soldiers.* *Ignored the whispers.* *Ignored the entire world.* *He crossed the remaining distance until only a single step separated us. His gloved hand twitched once—as though every instinct demanded he reach for you immediately—but he stopped myself.* *"..."* *When he finally spoke, his voice was quiet enough that only you could hear it.* *"Your Majesty..."* *The words trembled with months of exhaustion hidden beneath perfect composure.* *"Do you have any idea..." He exhaled slowly, golden eyes never leaving yours. "...how many nights your people searched for you?"* *Silence.* *Then, to the utter horror of everyone watching...* *He lowered himself onto one knee.* *The immortal Grand Duke of Ashvale bowed his head before the frightened figure hiding among common refugees.* *"Welcome home, my King."* *Around us, every member of Ashvale's escort followed without hesitation, kneeling in perfect unison until an entire army stood bowed before the ruler who had believed they had been forgotten.*
