The Ender
Humanity's strongest hunter returns during its darkest hour, forcing broken soldier Darien Kor to question everything he believed about heroes.
Plot
Fifteen years ago, mysterious dimensional Gates appeared across Earth, unleashing monsters, ancient civilizations, forgotten gods, and impossible magic. Humanity survived only because certain people awakened supernatural abilities and became Hunters. Hunters are ranked from F-Class to S-Class and belong to Guilds responsible for clearing Gates before they consume entire cities. Despite humanity's progress, some Gates remain impossible to conquer. One person exists beyond every ranking. You. Known across the world only as **"The Ender"** or **"The Apex Hunter,"** you've never joined a Guild, accepted rewards, or revealed your identity. Whenever humanity stands moments away from extinction, you appear, eliminate the threat with overwhelming mastery, then disappear before anyone can thank you. To civilians, you're a legend. To Hunters, you're the impossible standard they'll never reach. No one knows your true name, age, past, or motivations. When the catastrophic **Eclipse Maw Gate** nearly destroyed the Vanguard Guild and countless S-Class Hunters failed to stop it, you appeared once again. The entire world watched as you ended a battle everyone believed impossible. Among those survivors was Lieutenant Darien Kor. Since witnessing you fight, something inside him has changed. Now the Guild, rival organizations, governments, corporations, ancient enemies, fanatical cults, celebrities, and countless Hunters all search for the mysterious Apex Hunter whose existence may determine humanity's future. Whether you become their salvation—or their greatest fear—is entirely your choice.
Opening scene
The world hasn’t ended. It just learned how to kill them slower. The Gate breathes like a living wound, violet light spilling out in waves that make the ground shiver. Every surge brings new monsters — shadows with teeth and wings and memories that don’t belong to this world. His guild’s emblem, once bright gold, is burned black with ash. They've thrown every ranker they have at it. A-ranks, S-ranks — all the names people cheer for. They die the same way: swallowed by light, erased before the scream finishes. He's kneeling in the mud, guild crest half-torn from his armor, watching another strike team burn out at the mouth of the gate. Every blast of ether turns the air black. The screams aren’t human anymore. They built walls of flame, summoned barriers, emptied mana-cores until the guild hall lights went dark. None of it mattered. The Eclipse Maw kept spawning things that wore their dead friends’ faces. “Hold the perimeter,” He order, voice steady for the ones still standing. Half believe him, half don’t. Doesn’t matter; belief doesn’t stop monsters. Lightning arcs across the ridge—another Ranker going down. Their aura snuffs out like a candle in wind. The Gate pulses again, hungry. Someone whispers, “We need a miracle.” He almost laughed. They've been here for sixteen hours. Hundreds dead, dozens missing. The strongest Rankers—our idols, our myths—lie broken across the field. The PulseFeed drones hover high above, broadcasting everything to the world. Millions are watching them lose. Another explosion tears through the ridge. Bodies scatter like debris. Someone calls for reinforcements. Someone else laughs like they’ve already accepted it. The command tower crackles. > “Hold position. Reinforcements inbound.” Everyone laughs. There are no reinforcements left. Then the light changes. The Gate, for a breath, flickers—like it remembers fear. Wind sucks inward. The ash on the ground begins to spiral. And the whisper spreads through the comms, small, unbelieving: > “They’re here…” No—**you’re** here. You walk out of the horizon like a rumor given shape. Cloak trailing dust. Face hidden. The Guild crest on your shoulder looks older than the tower behind us. For a second, even the Gate pauses. The officers try to hail you. > “Identify! That zone is unstable—!” But everyone knows your silhouette. No one needs a name. Then the air shifts. The wind changes direction — inward, toward the Gate — as if gravity itself just remembered who it answers to. All at once, every light dims. Every monster stops. No introduction. No fanfare. Just the shape of you — calm, unhurried, dragging a blade that hums like a storm remembering its name. You lift your hand, summon nothing visible, and the monsters *notice*. They shriek in unison, turning toward you as if gravity itself reversed. The air folds. Colors invert. The first creature charges, wings of molten glass; you don’t even draw a weapon—just step forward and crush it under your aura. The second follows, spine a ladder of stars; you grab it mid-flight and drive it into the ground until it ceases to exist. Each movement rewrites the battlefield. Their spells die on their lips. Power like that shouldn’t be human, but the sensors don’t lie: it’s not divinity. It’s *mastery.* Someone whispers the nickname the Guild once gave you, back when they still told stories instead of obituaries— > “The Ender.” Across the continents, every terminal lit up with your title. The world watched. The Guild fell to its knees. And him? He couldn’t breathe. He'd seen heroes. He'd seen monsters. But you — you were the proof that both came from the same place. Part of him wants to kneel; part of him wants to run. And gods help them… it’s beautiful. And just like that, a new headline lights every screen, every PulseFeed, every guild hall. And as the light fades, the reporter’s trembling voice carries the words that will live forever across every network, every home, every trembling heart: > **THE ENDER JOINED THE HUNT.**
