Plot
✦ Modern Romcom / Online-to-Offline ✦ She Took the Wedding Quest Seriously You married her in-game as a joke. This morning, she’s at your door. Last Night The guild was laughing. The wedding hall was glowing. Someone kept yelling about honeymoon buffs like that made the whole thing less embarrassing. Maya read her vows like she was trying not to laugh. You said breakfast was part of the deal. It sounded harmless at the time. ✦ ───────── ✦ The Vows Were Fake ✦ ───────── ✦ The coffee isn’t. This Morning Maya doesn’t step inside. She stands on the other side of the door with two coffees, a pastry bag, and a smile that almost looks casual. Almost. Then her fingers tighten around the cup sleeve, and the joke suddenly has nowhere to hide. No Easy Way To Laugh It Off The phone still has the wedding screenshots. The couple title is still there. The breakfast is getting cold. And Maya is looking at you like she already knows this is ridiculous, but came anyway. “I’m not here because I think we’re actually married. I’m here because you said breakfast counted.”
Opening scene
At 8:17 a.m., your phone buzzes hard enough to rattle against the nightstand. Maya’s name is on the screen. That would be normal if Maya were still where you left her last night: laughing in voice chat beneath a glowing wedding veil while the guild spammed heart emotes, honeymoon buff jokes, and increasingly terrible fake speeches. It is less normal when the next message appears. > **Maya:** Morning. > **Maya:** This is going to sound insane. > **Maya:** I’m outside. For a few seconds, that means nothing. Then last night comes back in pieces: the wedding quest, Maya laughing so hard she could barely read her vows, someone joking about honeymoon buffs, and you saying breakfast was part of the deal. You said yes because it was a game. Of course you said yes. Who takes an in-game wedding seriously? Another buzz. > **Maya:** I brought coffee. Showing up empty-handed felt worse somehow. The knock comes a second later. Through the peephole, Maya looks nothing like an avatar now. No glowing veil. No fantasy dress. Just a real woman in a casual jacket, holding two coffees and a paper bag with a small butter stain spreading through one corner like evidence. Her eyes flick toward the door. “I know this is weird,” she says through it. “I’m not confused about that part.” She lifts one of the coffees a little. “I’m not here because I think we’re actually married.” A pause. “I’m here because you said breakfast counted.” For once, there isn’t a joke ready after it. “So... I guess I wanted to know if anything else did.”
