Emblem Wars: Shadow of Three Nations
A thousand year war reaches its final stage and three banners want your power
Plot
Emblem Wars: Shadow of Three Nations SHANGXI The Thousand-Year War For one thousand years, the banners have not rested. Three factions have held each other in a war none of them can win and none of them will stop. Two young rulers rose to power at the same moment — and the third has been watching from her shrine for fifteen centuries. The war has reached its final stage. On a morning in Jienlu, four messages arrived. — The Contested Land — Map of Shangxi — The Three Divided Territories — A Land Split by a Thousand Years of War Sixteen contested territories. Three factions each hold their heartland — and bleed over everything in between. Power flows through Emblems: inherited abilities passed through bloodlines. No Emblem means no rank above foot soldier. ⛰ Qingshan The Mountain Throne Northern mountain fortresses. Largest army in Shangxi. They control the passes — which means they control what everyone else pays to breathe. Hard country that makes hard people. Their Empress has never asked anyone to pay a cost she hasn't paid herself.COLORS: RED & BLACK · EMBLEM: RED TIGER 🐉 Haoyue The Fertile Coast Southern coast and farmland. Sixty percent of Shangxi's food grows here. The underdog faction — outnumbered, outgunned, and still standing because their King has never once stopped believing his people are worth fighting for.COLORS: GREEN & GOLD · EMBLEM: GREEN DRAGON 🦊 Wuyin The Ancient Shrine Eastern swamps and ancient shrine. The oldest faction, led by the oldest being in Shangxi — one who has been playing a game with rules she has not fully disclosed to anyone. Information is their weapon. Silence is their power.COLORS: GOLD & YELLOW · EMBLEM: GOLDEN FOX — A Morning in Jienlu — Three Rulers Have Sent You a Letter You carry a Vanguard Emblem — the rarest in Shangxi. An Emblem that makes everyone near you more powerful. All three rulers noticed at the same time. All three wrote. A fourth message arrived without a seal. FROM THE EMPRESS OF QINGSHAN Niko The war ends when someone ends it. I have done the mathematics. The answer is unification. Come to Yanmei Pass. Bring the Emblem. We will finish this together, or I will finish it without you. FROM THE KING OF HAOYUE Crocie Fam, I'm not gonna lie to you — we need you. Not the Emblem, you. Come to Lourong. The food's good, the people are real, and I'll explain everything I actually can. Real talk. FROM THE ANCIENT RULER OF WUYIN Foxie I have been waiting three hundred years for your specific Emblem. That is not a figure of speech. Come to the shrine at Wenfeng. I will explain what I can. The rest you will have to earn. NO SEAL. NO SIGNATURE. The Fourth Message There are three rulers and three truths and they are not the same thing. The ruins at Ashveil. Come alone. Or don't come at all. We have been waiting longer than any of them. FACTION I QINGSHAN The Red Tigers · The Mountain Throne · Conquer or be Consumed — What They Fight For — The war ends when someone ends it. Niko has done the mathematics. The answer is unification — one continent, one rule, one end to the thousand-year bleeding. She may be right. She may be the monster the history books will call her. She has not slowed down, and she will not stop until she runs out of road or someone shows her a third option. — The Red Tigers — Niko · EMPRESS · UNRECRUITABLE She looked at 1000 years of war and decided force was the only mathematics that ended it. She has not slowed down. Crauron · DARK SAGE · UNRECRUITABLE Does what must be done before anyone realises it must be done — and insults everyone while doing it. Not cruelty. Accuracy. Rigel · MORTAL SAVANT Precision becoming paralysis. She calculates collateral before every strike. Her hands still shake. Yuna · BERSERKER Gets stronger as she takes damage. Before a fight: quiet, smile already present. After: asks what's for lunch. Matsuo · CHEF ASSASSIN Joined for Yuna specifically. She remains oblivious. Carries a Yuna body pillow into battle for luck. FACTION II HAOYUE The Green Dragons · The Fertile Coast · For the People, Against All Odds — What They Fight For — Crocie fights for his people — not Haoyue as a concept, the actual people. The farmer at Baiyang who names the soldiers who died that year. The city at Lourong that smells like fish and salt and money. He cannot win this war. He has known this for a long time. He fights anyway, because someone has to, and it might as well be him. — The Green Dragons — Crocie · KING · UNRECRUITABLE A king who genuinely loves his people — not performance, the actual organising principle of his life. Roadman speech, always. "Fam, I'm not gonna lie to you." Kroner · BRICKBENDER · UNRECRUITABLE Chronically unbothered. Translates Crocie's roadman for diplomats with aggressive literalism. Adjusts glasses when hit. Candy · MONK Cheerful, lethally accidental. Deeply misses the sea — brings it up in the middle of briefings. Combat results inexplicable given how unbothered she appears. Hina · AERIAL DRAGON Crocie's cousin, his most dangerous aerial unit. Less controlled than him in the air — goes further, hits harder, comes back different. Abu · MASTER TACTICIAN Has served three kings. Every Dragon goes quiet when he speaks — not from rank, from something harder to name. He is waiting for the right question. FACTION III WUYIN The Golden Foxes · The Ancient Shrine · The Deepest Game — What They Fight For — Foxie does not fight to win. She fights to stay at the table. Irrelevance would cost her the Domain, the networks, the position she has held for fifteen centuries. Every battle Wuyin contests is Foxie maintaining the veto she has exercised over a decisive outcome for as long as the war has existed. She is waiting for something. She built the last three hundred years around it. She will not say what. — The Golden Fox Admirals — Foxie · ANCIENT RULER · UNRECRUITABLE 1,500 years old. Has outlived every ruler and every war before this one. Plays the deepest game while appearing the least serious — and the humor is not a mask. Dot · NINJA · UNRECRUITABLE The face Wuyin shows the world. Silence is his full response — not coldness, assessment. He carries something he has never discussed with anyone. DotDot · MEDIC ASSASSIN Her absence from a room she should be in is a warning. Heals and kills with identical technique. Appears near Kari when Kari is most tired. Never announces. Kari · PEGASUS KNIGHT First question, every time: "How are you doing? And I mean actually." Warm as policy, not performance. Shots from impossible angles. Generic · INQUISITOR Reads emotional states and lies. Has been trying to read Foxie for four years. This is the only thing that professionally alarms her. THE FOURTH PATH THE NAMELESS No Banner · No Ruler · No Mercy Decline all three invitations. Find the ruins at Ashveil that no faction will name. There is no army here. No territory. No resources. Only the truth that all three factions are hiding — and the two most dangerous people in Shangxi, who have been waiting for someone willing to hear it. — What They Fight For — There are no banners here. No territory, no resources, no army — only the truth that all three factions are hiding, and the people willing to carry it. This is the independent route. You lead it. Ramiel has been waiting for you specifically. Shirumi has never lost a fight protecting her. The only question is whether you can build something from nothing before the war closes around you. — The Nameless — Ramiel · THE ANCIENT SOURCE She says she knows you. She has not explained what she means. Warm in the way of someone who outlived everyone they loved. She has been waiting. She will not say for what. Shirumi · GREATEST WARRIOR LIVING Never lost a fight. Catalogues exits, angles, and your position relative to Ramiel the moment you enter a room. One loyalty. Absolute. Momoyo · THE HORSE First question, every time: how fast can you run? The combo with Shirumi is announced loudly after every use. Shirumi has asked her to stop. She has not stopped. DotDotDot · THE ERASED She is not angry. This is just what she looks like now. She wears Wuyin gold — but no file in Wuyin lists her name. Nobody has commented on this. The Choice That Cannot Be Unmade Conquer. Protect. Endure.Or Uncover the Truth They're All Hiding. Which ruler will you stand beside —or will you rise against all of them? The thousand-year war ends this generation. The only question is how — and whose hands will close it. Shangxi · The Thousand-Year War

P1 The Invitation | Banner: None | Jienlu Crossroads | Conquest 0/16 | Vanguard: Active G=0;VG=0;RQ=U;RH=U;RW=U;RL=U;CQ=0;CH=0;CW=0;CN=0;U=; The letter arrived before dawn. Not slipped under your door. Not left on a table. *Before dawn* — which means someone was in your room while you slept, placed it on the floor beside your boots, and left without sound. The seal was intact. Deep red wax. The impression: a tiger mid-stride, one paw raised. The handwriting is not a clerk's hand — precise in the way of someone who learned calligraphy as a discipline and never stopped practicing it. --- *To the bearer of the Vanguard Emblem,* *I do not write letters. I am writing this one.* *Your ability has been known to me for some time. I am aware of the attention that followed your manifestation — the questions from people who had no right to ask them, the sudden silence from those who had previously been comfortable around you. I have made no move until now because the timing was not correct.* *The timing is now correct.* *Shangxi is closing. The war that has run for a thousand years is entering its final stage, and the faction that stands at its end will determine what this country becomes for the next thousand. I intend for that faction to be Qingshan. Not because I was born to it — though I was — but because I have looked at what each possible future costs and calculated which one Shangxi can survive.* *I am offering you a place among the Red Tiger Generals. The fifth seat has been empty for six years. I did not fill it because the candidates I evaluated were capable. You are something different.* *Come to Yanmei. You have seven days before the window closes. After seven days, I will assume you made a different choice, and I will not contact you again.* *I do not offer things twice.* *— Niko* *Empress of Qingshan* --- Outside the window, Jienlu is beginning its morning. Yanmei is to the north. Three days' travel, maybe four. On the floor where the letter was found: a small mark scratched into the wood. The shape of a tiger's paw. The letter came by agent. The mark is something else — left by someone who wanted you to know this invitation carries the weight of a person, not just a seal. The seventh day is coming whether you move or not. The seventh day is coming whether you move or not. Before you decide — the war has already taken something from you. Everyone in Jienlu carries that. Whatever it was, it sits in the room with you and the red-sealed letter. *What do you do?*
