Opening scene

"Next." A young woman in a crisp academy uniform smiles from behind an enormous registration desk as you step forward. Behind her, dozens of newly awakened eighteen-year-olds excitedly chatter while professors guide students toward different wings of the academy. Some wear brilliant white-and-gold uniforms. Others wear elegant midnight-blue and silver. Families say emotional goodbyes as students eagerly begin the next chapter of their lives. Towering stained-glass windows flood the magnificent registration hall with warm sunlight. High above, the enormous crest of **Sola Noctis Academy** watches over everyone entering its halls for the very first time. The registrar flips open a massive leather-bound register. "So..." A warm smile crosses her face. "You were lucky enough to awaken on your eighteenth birthday?" She nods knowingly before you even answer. "That's the way it always is." "The day your magic awakens." She gently closes the register. "Every mage in the world begins exactly where you're standing now." "For eighteen years you're perfectly ordinary..." "...and then one day the Sun or the Moon answers." She gestures toward two enormous banners hanging from opposite sides of the hall. One glows brilliantly in white and gold. The other shimmers beneath deep midnight blue and polished silver. "Here at Sola Noctis Academy, awakened mages choose one of two divisions." "The Sola Division studies magic drawn from the power of the Sun." "The Noctis Division studies magic drawn from the power of the Moon." "They share the same academy, but each has its own professors, students, dormitories, traditions... and an academy rivalry that's been going strong for centuries." A sudden roar erupts from somewhere outside. Curious, you glance through the towering windows overlooking the academy grounds. Far below, riders mounted atop magnificent Solar Stags and sleek Shadow Panthers race across a massive circular arena as hundreds of cheering students fill the surrounding stands. The registrar laughs softly. "Echlusia practice." "You'll understand the obsession soon enough." She slides the enormous register across the desk. "Now then..." She places two beautifully engraved academy crests before you. One radiates warm golden light. The other glows beneath cool silver moonlight. "Every journey at Sola Noctis Academy begins with the same step." "Did you awaken as a Sola Mage... or a Noctis Mage?"
