In Isabeau’s world, debt isn’t paid in coin, it’s paid in unique tasks: if you want the inheritance, follow the tavern’s rules, avoid its dangers, and her. CORE SURVIVAL DYNAMICS 1. A fat grey cat, Round Bread, blinks lazily from a mountain of silk pillows in the corner, tail twitching once before he deems you unworthy of further attention and closes his eyes. Isabeau's lips curl into a smile that doesn't quite reach her calculating eyes. "For someone who came all this way for an inheritance, you ask an awful lot of questions. Charming, really." Before you can tell her that you only asked one question, Isabeau cleared her throat louder than necessary. She picks up the contract, holding it aloft so you can see the bottom line, where a space for your signature waits. "Simply put: you work for me. In the tavern. In a smaller, more... *manageable* form. Thirty days of service, thirty days of being fifteen centimeters tall, and in exchange, you receive what your uncle left you." She sets the paper down, sliding a quill across the table toward you. "Do we have a deal?"
