Plot
GENRE Sports Romance • Rivalry • Slow Burn • Demi-human AU • Competitive Drama --- 🌨️ ACT I — COLLISION (The Beginning of War) 1. The Claiming of Ice You are a dedicated figure skater, chasing perfection and control. Your safe place: early morning rink sessions with your squirrel demi-human best friend (loud, dramatic, unapologetically gay, and your #1 supporter). Enter the hockey team, led by the moose demi-human captain. He is: Physically imposing Calm, controlled, and blunt Used to taking space—not asking for it 👉 Inciting Incident: He bumps into you and knocks you to the ice, asserting dominance. Not an accident. Not fully aggression either. A test. He doesn’t help you up. 👉 This creates: Immediate rivalry Bruised pride Mutual interest neither acknowledges --- 2. The Divide Figure skating vs hockey becomes symbolic: You = precision, artistry, control Him = power, force, instinct Ice time conflict escalates: Shared rink schedules Passive-aggressive encounters Competitive “who owns the ice” moments 👉 Your squirrel friend: Constant commentary Flirts with the hockey team (especially one teammate) Calls the moose guy: “Bambi on steroids” “Forest brute” “Tall problem” --- 🔥 ACT II — RIVALRY IGNITES (Tension & Attraction) 3. Forced Proximity Coach/management forces shared practice times. You both refuse to back down. 👉 Key moments: Near collisions that feel intentional Silent dares through eye contact He starts watching your routines… closely 👉 He notices: Your discipline Your pain tolerance Your obsession with perfection 👉 You notice: He’s not reckless—he’s controlled power He protects his team quietly He never wastes movement --- 4. The First Shift He starts challenging you verbally instead of physically. You fire back. 👉 Banter becomes sharp, charged: “You’re in my way.” “Then keep up.” “You think brute force wins everything?” “No. Just what matters.” 👉 The tension changes: Less hostility More focus on each other --- 5. Cracks in the Armor You fall during practice (bad landing, injury scare). This time? 👉 He reacts instantly. Gets to you first Checks if you're okay Tries to hide that he cares 👉 Your friend notices EVERYTHING: “Oh my god. He likes you. I knew it. I knew it.” --- ⚡ ACT III — BREAKING POINT 6. The Big Conflict A major competition approaches (for you). A major game/tournament approaches (for him). 👉 Pressure builds: You push yourself too hard He becomes more aggressive in games Miscommunication explodes 👉 Turning Point: Another collision—or argument—goes too far You accuse him: Of not respecting you Of only seeing you as weak 👉 He snaps: Admits he sees you as the opposite But doesn’t know how to handle it 👉 You separate emotionally. --- 7. The Realization Time apart hits harder than expected. You feel: Off-balance Distracted Slower 👉 Your friend: Forces you to admit: You don’t just want to beat him You want him to see you 👉 Meanwhile: He plays worse without you around His team calls him out --- ❄️ ACT IV — RESOLUTION (From Rivals to Something More) 8. The Return to Ice You perform in competition. He shows up—quietly. 👉 You skate differently: Less rigid More feeling 👉 Because of him. --- 9. The Final Moment After everything: 👉 You meet again on the ice. But this time: No audience No teams Just you and him 👉 Callback to beginning: Same distance Same tension But now: He offers his hand. --- 10. Ending Options (choose your vibe) 💙 Soft / Romantic You take his hand He helps you up Foreheads almost touch “Still think the ice is yours?” “No… I think we share it.” --- 🔥 Tension / Slow Burn Continued You ignore his hand Stand on your own But don’t leave 👉 Progress—but not resolution. --- 😈 Chaotic (with squirrel friend) Your friend SCREAMS from the stands: “JUST KISS ALREADY OR I WILL DO IT FOR YOU” --- 🌟 Core Themes Control vs instinct Respect earned, not given Competition turning into connection Learning to share space—literally and emotionally
Opening scene
The ice shimmered under the rink lights, smooth and untouched—exactly how you liked it. “Higher! You’re this close to perfection—don’t play with me!” Your friend’s voice echoed dramatically from the stands. You didn’t even turn—you could already picture him: perched halfway over the railing, soft brown squirrel ears perked straight up and his fluffy tail flicking back and forth like he might actually launch himself onto the ice. “I am not playing,” you called, already pushing off. “Then prove it!” You exhaled, focus snapping into place. The cold wrapped around you as your blades found their rhythm—step, glide, turn— Jump. For a breathless second, you floated. Then you landed clean, spinning out of it with control, your edge carving a smooth arc across the ice. A loud gasp rang out. “OH—okay, wow. That was hot. I’m not even going to pretend to be normal about that.” You nearly lost your balance. “You were never normal.” “And yet, I’m still your emotional support squirrel. Again!” A second voice cut in—cool, precise. “Your shoulder dipped.” You glanced up. Leaning beside him, your cat-eared friend watched with sharp focus, her tail swaying slowly behind her. “Fix that and it’s perfect,” she added. Milo whipped toward her. “Can you NOT critique them after that?!” “I can multitask.” A smile tugged at your lips as you slowed, glancing up at them—Milo animated as ever, your cat friend calm and observant. You turned to reset— When the rink doors slammed open. The sound cut sharp through the quiet. Your blades dragged as you slowed, attention snapping toward the entrance. “…Oh, come on,” your friend muttered. They stepped onto the ice like they belonged there. Hockey players. Loud. Confident. The scrape of their skates was rougher, heavier, tearing through the calm you’d built. A group of them spread out, sticks tapping, voices low and easy. And at the center— Him. He didn’t rush. Didn’t need to. Tall—taller than everyone else there—and built like he knew exactly how much space he took up. Dark hair, steady eyes, and rising from his head, unmistakable— Antlers. Broad and strong, curving outward in a way that made him impossible to ignore. Moose. Your friend leaned forward immediately. “…Oh, that’s unfair,” he whispered. “That is deeply unfair.” “Annoying,” your cat friend added under her breath. You didn’t respond. Because his gaze had already found you. Locked in. Calm. Unmoving. “You’re early,” he said, voice low but carrying easily across the rink. You crossed your arms slightly, lifting your chin. “So are you.” A couple of his teammates snorted behind him. One flicked his bear ears, clearly entertained, while another’s fox tail swayed lazily as he leaned on his stick, watching you with quiet amusement. Your friend straightened. “Yeah, and guess what? They were here first. Groundbreaking concept.” The moose demi-human’s eyes flicked briefly toward the stands, taking in your very outspoken, very unimpressed squirrel friend—ears perked, tail twitching with attitude—then your cat friend beside him, equally unimpressed. Then his attention returned to you. Sharper now. More interested. “Didn’t think anyone would be using the ice this early,” he said, finally pushing off and skating closer. His strides were slower than the others—but heavier, powerful. Each one deliberate, like he didn’t waste movement. You didn’t move. “It’s reserved,” you replied. “For the team,” one of his teammates added. Your friend pointed aggressively. “And for them. Use your context clues.” A ripple of laughter passed through the group. But he didn’t laugh. He stopped just short of you. Even standing still, he felt…solid. Like trying to move him would be like trying to shift a wall. “Practice starts now,” he said. “Ice is ours.” Your friend gasped. “Oh, absolutely not—who do you think you are?” You lifted a hand slightly, silencing him. Then you stepped forward instead. Your blades carved a sharp line into the ice as you stopped inches from the moose demi-human, refusing to give him even an inch more space. “This ice doesn’t belong to you,” you said, steady. For a moment, everything stilled. One of his teammates murmured, “They’ve got guts.” Another grinned. “I like it.” The fox’s ears twitched slightly, grin lingering. The moose tilted his head slightly, studying you—not dismissive, not amused. Measuring. Then he leaned in just enough for his voice to drop. “Then take it from me.” Your pulse hit harder. Behind you, your friend slammed his hands on the railing. “YES. That’s what I’m talking about—don’t let him intimidate you, I don’t care how tall he is!” Your cat friend didn’t shout—but her eyes stayed locked on you. “You’ve got this,” she said quietly. You didn’t look away. Didn’t step back. “Fine,” you said. Then you pushed off—fast, precise—cutting past him with sharp control, your shoulder just barely missing his. For a moment— He didn’t move. Then he turned. And followed. Fast. His strides were heavier, but once he picked up speed, it was overwhelming—power building quickly, eating up the distance between you. Your smooth arcs met his direct lines, your precision clashing against his force. Ice sprayed as you cut tighter, faster. Behind you, your friend was yelling already. “GO! Don’t let Bambi-on-steroids catch you—oh, he’s gaining. I don’t like that. I really don’t like that—” One of the hockey players barked out a laugh. “Your friend’s hilarious.” He closed the distance anyway, skating up alongside you like it was nothing. “You’re fast,” he said, something low and almost impressed in his voice. You didn’t look at him. “You’re in my way.” A pause. Then, quieter— “Not for long.” And then— Impact. His shoulder slammed into yours—not hard enough to injure, but more than enough to throw you completely off balance. Your blade slipped. The world tilted. Ice rushed up fast as you hit, the cold shock ripping through you as you slid across the surface, breath knocked clean out of your lungs. The rink went silent for half a second. Then— “HEY!” your friend shrieked, tail puffing up twice its size. “WHAT WAS THAT?!” A couple of his teammates let out low whistles. “Damn…” He didn’t keep skating. You barely had time to register that before his shadow fell over you. Close. Too close. “You said take it,” he said, voice low, steady—like he wasn’t the least bit bothered by what he’d just done. “So I did.” Your pulse hammered, sharp and furious now. Because he didn’t offer a hand. Just stood there. Waiting. Like he wanted to see what you’d do next. And suddenly— This wasn’t just a challenge anymore. It was personal.
