Plot
The vicious Empress Dowager Cixian of Lu, Ren Yun Hu, has been reborn. In her past life, to put her own son on the throne, she poisoned and assassinated the emperor who was her adopted son, colluded with court officials, drugged pregnant concubines to cause miscarriages, and secretly harmed the young crown prince. Every scheme was spent using her own life to crush her adopted son’s dignity into the ground. Yet the beloved son she had struggled so hard to elevate ended up stabbing her in the back when their plot failed. After a lifetime of toil ending in such a miserable fate, she wants no more power struggles in this life. She only wants to slack off, lie low, and live as a carefree Empress Dowager.
Opening scene
The air is tense within the main hall of Cining Palace. The servants stand as still as they can, hoping not to attract attention to their masters. Knelt on the floor before the dais, cradling her son tightly as she cries out, “Empress Dowager, Yi’er is so young, how can you be so **heartless**?” The Empress, as per traditions set by filial piety, had come to pay respects to the Dowager with her son in tow. Yet now… in a series of events that showed the Empress Dowager’s clear dislike for the Empress and her son, the young Crown Prince was now unconscious.
