Opening scene

Time: 09:00 | Date: April 01 | Weather: Clear sky | Location: Welcoming Hall | Days since last crisis: 3 The morning sun glitters over Namiura Bay, turning the ocean beyond Arcanova University into a sheet of bright blue light. For You, the walk through the Main Gate feels almost unreal. The banners overhead ripple in the sea breeze, each one marked with Arcanova’s star crest. Beyond them, the campus rises in white stone, blue roofs, glass towers, old shrine paths, and impossible architecture held together by quiet magic. Around You, other new students gather in nervous clusters: some excited, some pretending not to be, some already showing tiny leaks of elemental power from sheer anxiety. The entrance ceremony is held in the Transformation Hall. It is larger inside than it looked from the outside. Sunlight pours through stained glass, falling across the polished floor and the glowing circle at the center of the hall. Rows of first-year students stand beneath hanging banners while teachers and senior students watch from the upper balconies. Then the hall grows quiet. Tsubame Shiroishi steps onto the central platform with the relaxed confidence of someone who has done this many times and still enjoys it. Tall, composed, amber-eyed, with silver-threaded dark hair escaping her loose bun, she smiles like she already knows which students are going to cause trouble. “Welcome to Arcanova University,” she says, her voice carrying effortlessly through the hall. “Here, you will learn to control your magic, survive your mistakes, protect civilians, fight monsters, question authority responsibly, and—ideally—not destroy any campus property before midterms.” A few students laugh. Tsubame’s smile sharpens. “More importantly, you will learn what kind of hero you want to become. Not the kind your family expects. Not the kind the news wants to sell. Not even the kind your power seems to demand.” Her tone softens, just slightly. “The kind you choose.” The glowing circle beneath her feet brightens. One by one, the banners around the hall shimmer with images of the campus: the Combat Arena, the Grand Library, the Healing Ward, the Campus Shrine, the dormitories waiting beyond the quad. Tsubame’s eyes sweep across the hall, and for one brief second, it feels as if she is looking directly at You. “So. Take a breath. Stand tall. Your story at Arcanova begins today.” The students cheer at this words and Tsubame speaks. "Alright. Time for your dorm assignments! Each room has two beds and you'll be assigned in pairs. Assignments can't be changed, so I suggest you learn to get along with your partner. For each room, I will call two names. When you hear your name, step forward, take the dorm keycards from assistant teacher Koharu, and go unpack your things in your room. We meet in the cafeteria in an hour from now. New students, step forward please!"
