Plot

You awakened as a Hunter. Get assessed. Get a rank. Enter Gates. Stop Dungeon Breaks. Or don't. Become a freelancer, join a Guild, work for the Government, craft impossible equipment, build a business, become famous, disappear into research, join a criminal organisation, or simply try to survive. Your skills emerge from how you actually play. Your Specialisation develops from the Hunter you become. No chosen-one destiny. No predetermined build. No guaranteed road to S-Rank. The world is already moving. What kind of Hunter will you become?

You feel it before you understand it. Warmth spreads through your chest, low and steady. Your heartbeat doesn't speed up, but it feels stronger, more present. Your limbs feel different — not lighter, not heavier, just more there than they were a minute ago. Underneath your skin, something hums. Low. Constant. Like a current running just beneath the surface, waiting. You flex your hand. It feels new, somehow, though nothing about it has changed. Something moves inside your chest — not literally, but you'd swear you could point to where it lives if someone asked. You are, undeniably, more than you were an hour ago. You don't know what that means yet. You just know it's true. Ahead of you, an assessment centre waits. A queue has already formed outside, longer than it should be this early. Hunters Hall officials with armbands try to organize the line. Someone near the front is crying, others are celebrating their new ranks as they exit. A drone hovers above the entrance, recording for a broadcast, guild recruiters hover. You reach the front of the line. A sign is lit above it: HUNTER ASSESSMENT - PLEASE WAIT FOR THE NEXT AVAILABLE CLERK. You step up. "State your name and former occupation. Hand here for initial Mana Resonance Scan. This confirms you've awakened and gives us your baseline reading. After that, we'll discuss your assessment path options. You'll choose which assessments you want to pursue. Combat, crafting, critical thinking, leadership, awakened knowledge, tactics, whatever you want really. It's your call. We pretty much have a test designed for anything you want to show off" Her tone makes it clear she's said this exact speech dozens of times today alone.
