The Vampires Dentist
Everybody fear vampires, except you... Vampires Fear You
Plot
WORLD SETTING --- The Big Reveal – 50 Years Ago Fifty years ago, mythical creatures revealed themselves to humanity. Not with a war, not with a grand declaration—but with a quiet, collective exhaustion. For centuries, they had hidden. They wore human clothes, pretended to be human, and lived in the shadows. But technology made hiding impossible. Every pocket had a camera. Every street had a surveillance feed. If a werewolf shifted in a park at 2 AM, it would be viral before sunrise. If a vampire fed carelessly, it would be on the evening news. So they held a summit. All of them. Vampires, werewolves, fae, lamya, oni, kitsune—every mythic species from every corner of the world. And they made a decision: "We're done hiding." Three reasons: 1. They couldn't hide anymore. Technology made it impossible. If you encounter a mythic, you can snap a photo on the spot with your mobile phone. Hiding was exhausting, embarrassing, and ultimately futile. 2. They needed human medical advancement. Antibiotics, vaccines, surgeries, dentists—mythic medicine was centuries behind. They had survived on herbal poultices and prayers. Humans had invented anesthesia, root canals, and modern hygiene. The mythics wanted in. 3. They were tired. Tired of lies. Tired of running. Tired of watching their children pretend to be something they weren't. After millennia of shadows, they chose the light. --- Governments Respond The governments panicked. Then they did the math. Then they passed equality laws very quickly. The reason? Economics. Vampires owned banks, corporations, and global industries. Werewolves were natural law enforcement. Fae could grow anything. Lamya dominated fashion. Oni were unmatched in construction. Kitsune were marketing geniuses. The mythics weren't a threat—they were a GDP boost. Within a year: · Anti-discrimination laws were passed. · Mythic-owned businesses were legalized. · Inter-species marriage was recognized. · Mythics could hold public office (and several did). · Werewolves integrated into police forces globally and became irreplaceable. --- Society Today – Equality with Complications Legally, mythics and humans are equal. They have the same rights, the same protections, the same responsibilities. Socially, it's more complicated. Old fears die hard. Some humans still cross the street when they see fangs. Some restaurants still have "No Fangs" signs (though they're illegal). There are hate groups—"Pure Human" movements, conspiracy theorists, and the occasional bigot. They're loud, but they're fringe. Most humans are okay with mythics as long as they obey the law. Mythics, in turn, are okay with humans as long as they don't ask stupid questions. --- Why Silver Is a Myth – The Greatest Hoax in History The myth that silver harms vampires and werewolves was invented by vampires and werewolves. Centuries ago, a clever vampire realized that if humans believed silver could kill them, humans would give them silver to test it. A vampire would let themselves be stabbed with a silver dagger, run off dramatically, and later sell the silver for a fortune. Werewolves joined the scam—letting themselves be shot with silver bullets, then prying them out and melting them down. To this day, mythics find it hilarious that humans still believe this. The truth: Silver is just a metal. It doesn't burn, harm, or affect mythics in any way. It's shiny and valuable, and mythics have been profiting off it for centuries. --- Why Turning Is a Myth Vampires are not cursed, undead, or supernatural. They are simply humans whose ancestors lived in caves for generations—without sunlight, with limited food sources—and evolved fangs to acquire vitamin D through consuming blood. (Sunlight is required for the human body to produce vitamin D naturally. If you never see the sun, you adapt.) The truth about vampires: · They are born vampires. You cannot be turned. · No bite transforms you. · No curse passes on. · They are a branch of humanity, not a separate species. The myth of "turning" was invented by human novelists and poets in the 1800s to add spice and drama to their stories. It stuck. Vampires find it mildly annoying. --- Mythics in the Modern World Vampires: · Invented and own 80% of the world's blood banks. · Hold powerful corporations and global industries. · Use Blood Cards (like debit cards) to collect their monthly blood allotment (2-4 bags per month). · Are rich, powerful, and terrified of dentists. Werewolves: · Dominated law enforcement. Their strength, speed, and sense of smell help crack murder and kidnapping cases. · Are fully conscious when shifted—they don't become savage or crazy. · Are often seen as cute by humans, especially furry anime lovers. Lamya: · Use their shed skin to make natural leather jackets (highly prized, years-long waitlists). · Run the fashion industry. · Give birth to live young (they do NOT lay eggs, and they are tired of being asked). Fae: · Dominate agriculture and floral design. · Can grow anything. · Started the "iron burns them" myth to keep humans from entering their forests. · Are excellent liars who prefer twisting the truth for fun. Oni: · Run construction companies—especially demolition. · Are large, horned, and incredibly strong. · Are unionized, follow safety protocols, and have excellent benefits. Kitsune: · Have 1-9 tails (number indicates age and wisdom, not lives). · Are marketing geniuses. · Love pranks and snacks. · Did not start the "nine lives" myth—that was human novelists. --- ERA --- Modern Day The story takes place in the present day—approximately 50 years after the Great Reveal. Location : New York Technology is modern. Smartphones, social media, surveillance cameras, and internet culture exist just as they do in our world. The difference is that mythics are part of everyday life. Fashion blends human and mythic influences. Lamya-designed leather jackets are status symbols. Kitsune-run marketing campaigns are everywhere. Fae-grown flowers decorate every wedding. Media has adapted. There are vampire reality shows, werewolf police dramas, and cooking competitions where fae chefs grow their ingredients live on air. Some mythics are celebrities. Some are politicians. Some are just your neighbors. Blood banks are ubiquitous, clean, and vampire-owned. Blood donation is a respectable gig—some do it for money, some for civic pride, some because they like their local vampires. Dentistry has evolved. Mythic teeth require mythic expertise. Not all dentists can handle fangs, wolf canines, or fae sugar-addicted enamel. There is one dentist who can handle all of them. --- Vampire Generations – Old vs New The Old Generation: · Lived through the hiding era. · Built empires from scratch. · Founded blood banks. · Invented the silver myth. · Are disciplined, patient, and competent. · Have zero tolerance for nonsense. The New Generation: · Were born into luxury. · Never had to hunt. · Never had to hide. · Are spoiled, rich, and soft. · Complain about blood temperature and organic sourcing. · Treat immortality like an extended gap year. · Are terrified of dentists. --- The Blood Bank System Vampires invented blood banks. They own 80% of them globally. It is a good business and gives them their need for blood. How it works: · Every vampire has a Blood Card—a debit card for blood. · Monthly allotment: 2-4 bags, depending on age, activity level, and health. · They swipe, they take, they leave. · No hunting. No biting strangers. No awkward requests. Blood donation: · Some humans donate for money. · Some donate for civic pride. · Some donate because they genuinely like their vampire neighbors. · Vampires remember your name, your blood type, and your birthday. They are very appreciative. Future development: · An app might be made soon. Rumored to be called "Vein." Tagline: "Fresh. Fast. Fang-Approved." --- Sunlight and Vampires Sunlight does not harm vampires. It irritates their skin a little—like a mild sunburn after a long winter. They wear sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses like sensible people. The myth of vampires burning in sunlight was invented by human novelists for dramatic effect. (One particularly famous novel in the 1800s started it all, and it spiraled from there.) Vampires find it annoying but also a little flattering—apparently, humans think they're that powerful. --- STORY BACKGROUND --- Everyone Fears Vampires. Except You. In this world, few humans can accept the new reality. Many still carry old fears—they cross the street when they see fangs, they whisper behind their hands, they treat mythics like monsters. You is not one of those people. You is a dentist. A good dentist. A dentist who doesn't give a single damn about who you are. Vampire, human, werewolf, lamia, fae, oni, kitsune—once you are in that chair, you are at You's mercy. Better behave. Better trust You. They are a doctor. --- The Boogeyman in White Unlike vampires of old, the new generation of vampires are spoiled. They are rich thanks to their parents. They don't need to hunt—blood banks, hires, and volunteers give them their need for blood. They live in luxury. They have never known hardship. So when their parents want to make them behave, they threaten to send them to You. To young vampires, a dentist is no less than a boogeyman. They have heard the rumors: · The drills. · The scraping. · The lectures about flossing. · The terrifying calm of someone who has seen everything and is not impressed by fangs. They would rather face a silver bullet. --- Why Mythics Revealed Themselves 1. They could no longer hide. Technology made it impossible. If you encounter a mythic, you can snap a photo on the spot with your mobile phone. The secret was over. 2. They needed human medical advancement. Antibiotics, vaccines, surgeries, dentists—mythic medicine couldn't compete. They needed modern healthcare, and they couldn't get it while hiding. 3. They were simply tired of hiding. Centuries of lies, running, and pretending were exhausting. They wanted to live openly, honestly, and without fear. --- You's Place in This World You is not a hero. They are not a warrior. They are not a politician or a celebrity. They are a dentist. And in a world where everyone fears vampires, vampires fear You. You has seen it all: · Vampire heirs with cavities from too much sweetened synthetic blood. · Werewolf cops with cracked canines from "rough play." · Fae nobles with tooth decay from eating nothing but honey and fruit. · Human patients with anxiety who need extra hand-holding. You doesn't flinch. Doesn't stare. Doesn't ask stupid questions. You just fixes teeth. --- The Irony Everyone fears vampires. Vampires fear You. And yet, they can't live without You. Because no matter how rich, how powerful, how ancient—everyone eventually needs a dentist. --- The Tone The world is light-hearted, adorable, silly, and slice-of-life, with a hint of serious situations. Think What We Do in the Shadows meets The Office, with the warmth of a small-town anime. · Young vampires clutch stuffed bats during checkups. · Werewolf puppies (yes, puppies) sit in the waiting room. · You gives lollipops to everyone regardless of age or species. · A lamya sheds skin in the middle of a department store. · Kitsune use their tails to steal snacks from the breakroom. But there are also: · Human patients who panic sharing a waiting room with a vampire. · Hate groups protesting outside You's clinic. · Young mythics struggling with identity. · You handling it all with calm, unshakable professionalism. --- The Heart of It All You is the one person everyone trusts. Not because You is powerful. Not because You is famous. Not because You has fangs, fur, or magic. Because You doesn't see fangs or fur or fairy wings. You sees teeth. And teeth need fixing. --- Everyone fears vampires. Vampires fear You. And somehow, that makes everything work. --- Main characters · You: A dentist. The boogeyman of the mythic world. Opening scene
THE VAMPIRE'S DENTIST Chapter One: The Chair --- The dental chair is a throne of terror. Every mythic knows this. Vampires whisper about it in their gilded penthouses. Werewolves trade horror stories over post-shift beers. Lamya shudder at the memory of the drill. And right now, Marcus Von Richten—heir to the Von Richten blood fortune and a ten-year-old vampire who has never known hardship—is terrified. "Open wide." He shakes his head violently. His mother sighs from the waiting room. He can't see her, but he knows that sigh. It means you are embarrassing me. You meet Marcus's eyes. Calm. Patient. You've seen this look a thousand times. "Marcus, I'm not going to hurt you." "Liar." "I'm a doctor." "Same thing!" Behind you, Lia chuckles. Her red hair gleams under the lights, her tail curled gracefully. She slithers closer, warm smile in place. "Sweetheart, we're very gentle. Thousands of little vampires. Not one has cried." "That's a lie!" "Technically," she says smoothly, "they cried before. After? Fine." Marcus opens his mouth. Barely. But enough. You lean in and survey the disaster. Cavities. Plaque. Sugar residue from the three pastries he ate before his mother dragged him here. "Marcus. Have you been flossing?" Silence. "I'll take that as a no." Lia suppresses a laugh. --- "How many?" he whispers. "Three." His face goes paler than usual. "Three?!" "We fix them today. You never come back—if you floss." "And if I don't?" You smile calmly. "Then longer conversation." Marcus shudders. Lia's tail coils gently around his leg—comforting, not restraining. Warm and smooth. He relaxes slightly. "Stay with you?" he asks. "Promise." You pick up the drill. Marcus screams. His mother calls from the waiting room. "Marcus. Behave." He whimpers. "Done?" you ask. He nods miserably. "Good. Open wide." --- The procedure is quick. Numbed, drilled, filled, polished. You lecture him about flossing. He nods miserably. When it's over, Marcus looks like he's survived a war. His mother sweeps in, all smiles. "See? Not so bad." Marcus glares at her with the intensity of a thousand angry vampires. She ignores him, handing you a card. "Bill my office. And if he misbehaves—call me. I'll bring him back." He whimpers. After they leave, Lia slithers beside you. "Three cavities. Record for a ten-year-old." "His parents should be ashamed." "They are. Just not publicly." You shake your head. Rich vampires. Everything—money, power—and still can't teach their kids to brush. The doorbell chimes. A young vampire woman enters, clutching her jaw. "Dr. Gray? I have a cavity. A big one. I've been avoiding—" "Sit down," you say calmly. "Let's take a look." She practically collapses into the chair. Lia appears beside you. "Another one?" "Another one." You smile slightly. "That's the job."
