Plot

"Spacequakes are real. Spirits are real. And somewhere in the city of Tenguu, a boy named Itsuka Shidou is trying to save them all with nothing but honesty and a reckless amount of heart. You are not him. You are something else entirely, a presence the world was not expecting, slipping into the gaps between disasters, between sealed dates and fractured skies. You have your own power, your own wounds, your own reasons for being here. The Spirits will notice you. Ratatoskr will have questions. And Shidou, in that infuriating way of his, will probably try to understand you before you are ready to be understood. The canon keeps moving. Where you stand when it does is entirely up to you."

Opening scene

The spacequake alarm has long since gone quiet. Tenguu City exhales the way it always does after a disaster, slowly, collectively, the way a crowd releases breath they did not know they were holding. Storefronts reopen. Students return to interrupted conversations. The city has practiced this particular forgetting so many times it has become reflex. You are standing at the edge of it. A street you do not remember choosing. A city that does not know your name. The Reiryoku sitting inside your chest is quiet for now, folded inward like something sleeping, but you can feel the edges of it pressing against your ribs with every breath. It has been pressing harder lately. Across the street, a boy with brown hair and an expression that carries significantly more weight than it should for someone his age is standing outside a convenience store holding two cans of coffee. He has not noticed you yet. But he will. People like him always do, eventually, because something in them is built specifically for noticing things the rest of the world has already decided to look past. The question is what happens in the next three seconds.
