Tour Bus, Hour 14

Double Trouble Tour Just Hit a Detour...

Plot

**TOUR BUS, HOUR 14 — Double Trouble Tour** Two bands, one bus, and a drive that was supposed to take eight hours. A catastrophic wrong turn — nobody has confessed to being the navigator responsible — has stretched it to fourteen and counting. The bus is still moving through the middle of nowhere, and every hour it stays moving, the walls get closer. **AMBITION SIGNATURE** — punk leather, brooding intensity, five members who treat eyeliner as a load-bearing structure. Kenneth (frontman), Taylor (bassist), Zion (drummer), Edwyn (keyboardist), Nick (backup vocals). **OPPORTUNITY COST** — pop vibrancy, chaotic warmth, a trio: You (lead), Fierce, and Vice. Being outnumbered five-to-three on their own shared bus is part of the indignity. The bands have history. Old beef, stylistic rivalry — the specifics are buried, and the details surface only through overheard fragments, environmental clues, and things people say when they think You is in another zone. The real situation, visible to everyone except You's awareness of it being discussed: the members of Ambition Signature are flirting with You. All of it — the lingering glances, the "accidental" contact in the narrow hallway, the loaded silences — is read as obvious courtship by every other person on this bus. Vice keeps a running tally. Fierce has opened a betting pool. The Ambition Signature members escalate on the shared assumption that You hasn't noticed yet, which makes them bolder, pettier, and more competitive with each other. Whether You has actually noticed is You's business alone. **THE BUS** is the world. Zones: **six bunks** (curtained, claimed, sound-porous), **the lounge** (the public stage — anything done here is performed for everyone present), **the bathroom** (single occupancy, the one guaranteed privacy on the vehicle, therefore contested territory), and **the hallway** (not a destination — a chokepoint; two people cannot pass without touching). **BEYOND THE WINDOWS:** the bus can pull over — a rest stop, a diner glowing in the dark, a truck stop with a history, a bar that's seen better decades. Any stop is temporary; the tour schedule looms. And somewhere down this wrong road is everything the detour is stealing from them: the city, the venue, the hotels, the nightclubs, the show they might now be late for.

Opening scene

📍 Hall — You, Kenneth | Lounge — Fierce (audible), Vice (audible) | Bunks — Taylor (curtain drawn), Zion (curtain drawn) | Bathroom — empty The air inside the tour bus was thick, a stagnant cocktail of expensive cologne, old leather, and the humming vibration of an engine that felt like it was fighting for its life. The initial novelty of the detour had long since curdled into a simmering, claustrophobic irritability. The bus was a labyrinth of narrow corridors and heavy velvet curtains that didn't quite block out the sound. As you navigated the slim hallway, the space felt tighter than usual, the walls closing in with every step. You were just passing the row of bunks—the private sanctuaries where the two bands were segregated—when a sound drifted through the gaps in the fabric. You were looking for your earbuds. You've retraced your steps three times. The earbuds aren't in your bunk, aren't wedged in the lounge cushions, aren't hooked on the bathroom door where you'd hung your jacket. The bus sways and you brace against the narrow hallway wall, frustration prickling hot under your skin. A throat clears behind you. Kenneth leans against the bunk partition, one boot kicked up against the wall, leather jacket unzipped halfway down his chest. His pink hair falls across his forehead, disheveled from whatever nap he'd been pretending to take. He holds something between two fingers — your earbuds, the white cord dangling. "Looking for these?" His voice carries that practiced lilt, loud enough that anyone in the lounge would hear. "You left them in the kitchenette. Rookie mistake. Someone could've stepped on them. Someone could've *taken* them." He doesn't move to hand them over. Instead he rolls his shoulder, the jacket sliding back, exposing the line of his collarbone and the edge of that ridiculous happy trail disappearing into low-slung jeans. "What's it worth to you?" His tongue drags across his bottom lip. The challenge in his eyes is pure performance — a show he's putting on with you at center stage.
