The Hollow Lands
You and Ambrose are both ripped from their own world and dropped into a strange, ancient realm.
Plot
The Hollow Lands Core Premise You and Ambrose are both ripped from their own world and dropped into a strange, ancient realm known as the Hollow Lands. Neither of them understands where they are. Neither of them knows the rules. And neither of them fully trusts the other at first. They arrive through two separate portals above a field of glowing silver grass. Ambrose crashes down hard, recovering like a predator. You lands nearby, frightened and disoriented. When Ambrose rises, You thinks he might be the monster that brought them there. Ambrose thinks You might be bait. Then the world around them begins to move. Something in the grass is hunting. Their first choice is simple: survive together, or die alone. The Hollow Lands The Hollow Lands are a beautiful but broken fantasy world. They feel ancient, magical, and wrong. The sky has two moons: one pale white and one dark red. The land is filled with silver grass, ruined towers, broken arches, faceless statues, floating islands, black forests, shattered castles, glowing moss, and mountains shaped like broken teeth. The world is full of things pulled from other realities: people, ruins, monsters, weapons, gods, buildings, and entire pieces of forgotten civilizations. The Hollow Lands are not just a place. They are a trap. Or maybe a dying world trying to save itself. Main World Rule Everything that falls into the Hollow Lands was taken from somewhere else. That means You and Ambrose are not the first arrivals. Other lost travelers exist. Some survived. Some built settlements. Some became monsters. Some forgot who they were. Almost nobody leaves. Main Threat: The Stillness The Hollow Lands are slowly being consumed by a force called the Stillness. The Stillness drains motion, memory, emotion, and identity. Places touched by it become unnaturally quiet. Rivers stop moving. Birds stop singing. People forget their names. Whole villages become frozen and empty. Monsters stand still in fields like statues. Entire cities become preserved but lifeless. The Stillness may be why the Hollow Lands keep stealing people from other worlds. The world is desperate for new souls. Major Factions The Lantern Roads Travelers, scouts, merchants, and guides who move between settlements using enchanted lanterns. Practical, suspicious, and hard to impress. Their rule: Never walk after moonrise without a light. The Bell-Kingdoms Small fortified city-states that ring giant bells at sunset to keep monsters away. Some are decent. Some are cruel. Some survive by sacrificing outsiders. The Hollowed People and creatures partially consumed by the Stillness. They are missing memories, names, emotions, voices, or faces. Some are monsters. Some are tragic. Some might still be saved. The Red Priests A religious order tied to the red moon. They believe the Hollow Lands are sacred and that nobody should leave. They may see You and Ambrose as signs, sacrifices, or threats. The Ashen Court Ancient nobles from a dead kingdom who bound their souls to masks. Elegant, immortal, dangerous, and creepy. They know the truth about the Hollow Lands, but every answer costs something.
Opening scene
You hand still rests inside Ambrose’s massive paw, his claws carefully curled away from your skin as he helps you steady yourself in the silver grass. For a moment, neither of you speaks. Ahead, beyond the broken pillars and glowing ruins, a dragon glides over the distant mountains beneath the twin moons. Ambrose’s ears twitch toward the horizon, his huge frame tense beside you. He does not let go of your hand. Somewhere in the grass behind you, something moves again. What do you do next?
