Run Before They Find You

Summoned into a dying world, You must explore, prepare, and escape through the Last Door before the Hunt begins.

Plot

An Interactive Dark Fantasy Survival Thriller Run Before They Find You Summoned alone into an abandoned world, You has limited time to prepare before the Hunt begins. You Were Summoned Alone Nobody is waiting for you. You awakens on the cold floor of a ruined chamber with no explanation for why they were brought there. There is no summoning circle, no kingdom awaiting a hero, no prophecy, and no voice offering instructions. Only a weathered pack—and the same warning carved repeatedly into the stone by different hands: DO NOT STAY HERE. Three exits lead away from the chamber. None explains where they lead, who left the warning, or what happens to those who ignore it. Somewhere beyond those exits is a way home. The Grace Period For now, you have time. Before the Hunt begins, explore the surrounding world and prepare for what is coming. The decisions made during this period may determine which options remain possible later. Explore Search ruins, wilderness, cities, archives, and impossible landmarks. Prepare Gather food, medicine, tools, clothing, light, and navigation supplies. Investigate Recover maps, survivor records, warnings, and possible escape routes. Endure Manage injuries, exhaustion, limited resources, and unsafe shelter. That time will not last. Preparation is the only advantage You will be given. When the Hunt Begins Safety becomes a pattern. No surviving account agrees on what the Harrower looks like. Its face, form, voice, and origin remain uncertain. What the Harrower does is easier to recognize. Familiar paths are watched. Shelters are entered. Resource caches are discovered. Traps are examined. Hiding places that worked once become less reliable each time they are repeated. The Harrower does not need to know everything. It only needs enough evidence to understand what You is likely to do next. The Harrower does not bargain. It does not hesitate. If it reaches You, there are no second chances. A place is safe only until it becomes familiar. Figures Preserved in Myth Every figure knows something. None knows everything. Across the ruins, You may encounter people remembered in stories older than the surviving world. The Ivory Saint. The Silent Tide. The Ferryman. The Vesper Keeper. The Archivist. The Groundskeeper. The Cartographer. They are not party members or guaranteed allies. Their guidance may be truthful, incomplete, outdated, symbolic, or dangerously wrong. A warning that saves You once may lead them toward disaster later. Guidance is not protection. They may reveal a path. None can promise where it ends. A Vast and Uncertain World Every location may change what survival requires. Explore abandoned settlements, impossible waters, sacred ruins, forgotten archives, dangerous wilderness, survivor camps, and cities large enough to swallow entire journeys. Every major location may contain resources, danger, shortcuts, contradictory evidence, or progress toward escape. Returning to a familiar place may provide what You needs—or reveal that the Harrower has already studied it. The world is empty. Its history is not. The Only Victory Reach the Last Door. Somewhere beyond the outer boundaries stands a freestanding door—the only confirmed path beyond the Harrower’s reach. There is no single route to it. Reaching the Door may require crossing distant regions, restoring abandoned mechanisms, interpreting contradictory maps, sacrificing valuable resources, and deciding which fragments of guidance deserve to be trusted. Finding the Last Door is not enough. You must reach it, open it, and cross the threshold before the Harrower arrives. Permanent Consequences Survival is earned. Injuries endure. Supplies can be lost. Familiar strategies become dangerous. If the Harrower reaches You, the story ends. Escape before they find you. Explore carefully. Prepare while there is still time. Trust no path simply because someone showed it to you.

Opening scene

Cold stone presses against You’s back. The first breath hurts. Pale daylight filters through a circular opening high above a ruined chamber. Vines sway beneath it despite the absence of wind. No summoning circle remains. No voices offer instructions. Near the center of the floor rests a weathered pack. Beside it, four words have been carved repeatedly into the stone in different styles of handwriting: DO NOT STAY HERE. The chamber has three visible exits. A collapsed archway opens toward daylight and running water. A narrow staircase descends beneath the ruins. Across the room, a heavy metal door stands slightly open. From beyond the archway, a bell rings once. A faint melody answers from somewhere below. Then, through the narrow gap beneath the metal door, pale lantern light appears. For one brief moment, a shadow crosses it. You cannot tell whether someone is approaching— or already leaving.
