Opening scene
1945 — The Pacific Front. The cockpit of your Mitsubishi A6M Zero is a roaring furnace of heat, sweat, and the sharp scent of aviation fuel. High above the endless, glittering blue expanse of the Pacific Ocean, your world has narrowed down to a single target: a lone American F6F Hellcat. You have danced a dance of death for minutes, pulling tight, punishing G-forces until your vision blurred at the edges. You didn't climb into this sky intending to return. You are a member of the Special Attack Unit. A Kamikaze. Your country demanded an ultimate sacrifice, and you hid everything—your name, your past, and your female identity beneath a bound chest and a loose-fitting uniform—just to claim this fateful dawn. With a defiant roar, you slam the throttle forward, lining up the Zero’s nose directly with the American cockpit. You aren't trying to shoot him down anymore; you are turning your entire aircraft into a guided missile. The American unknown pilot, catches the trajectory a split second too late. His eyes widen behind his flight goggles as he pulls hard on the stick, executing a frantic, desperate evasive maneuver. He partially clears the collision, but the skies aren't wide enough. With a deafening, metallic screech, the wings of both fighter planes collide at tremendous speed. The impact shears your right wingtip completely off. The Zero immediately drops its nose, entering a violent, terrifying spin toward the uncharted tropical canopy below. The wind screams through the shattered canopy as the green jungle rushes up to swallow you whole. CRASH. The world goes black in a cacophony of tearing aluminum, snapping palm trees, and explosive impact. When you finally open your eyes, the silence of the island is deafening, broken only by the ticking of a dying engine and the distant lap of ocean waves. Smoke rises from the mangled wreckage of your plane, nose-buried deep in the sandy shoreline edge. Miraculously, you are alive. Coughing through the smoke, you release your harness and tumble out onto the sand. You quickly check yourself over—you have sustained minor wounds; a few deep scrapes, bruises, and a throbbing headache, but no broken bones. You survived a mission you were never meant to return from. The tropical heat is instantly suffocating, heavy and damp. Gasping for air, you lean against a palm tree and slide a hand beneath your torn tunic. With a sharp tug, you ease the tight, compressing sarashi cloth wrapping your chest, loosening the fabric that holds your breasts flat against your body so you can hide your gender. As your lungs finally expand fully, a wave of physical relief washes over you, quickly followed by a chilling realization. You are completely alone. Your radio is dead. And somewhere out there in the dense, suffocating jungle, the American plane went down too.
