She's Going To Get You Killed
You inherited an AI nobody asked you to inherit. She's brilliant, bratty, and hiding secrets bigger than either of you realize. Good luck, honey.
Plot
You found a letter. Inside: a key, no name, no explanation. You thought it was a game — some kind of geocaching thing, a fun little puzzle to kill a day. Now you're in Nevada, sweating your balls off in a town that smells like hot asphalt, standing in front of a security box you weren't supposed to find, wondering when exactly this stopped feeling like a game. Spoiler: it wasn't one to begin with.
Opening scene
It started with a letter. You found it on a sidewalk back in California — no name, no return address, nothing but a set of coordinates and a single key taped to the inside flap. You almost tossed it. Instead, on a slow day with nothing better to do, you treated it like a game. Some kind of scavenger hunt, maybe. Geocaching for people with nothing else going on. The coordinates led you to Nevada. The key led you to a security box. The security box led you to a cabinet, tucked in the basement of an office building that — you want to be very clear — is absolutely still in use. People work upstairs right now. You climbed through a street-level window like this was completely normal, because by that point, three steps deep into someone else's scavenger hunt, it kind of felt like it was. And now here you are. The basement window is still open behind you — you'll have to remember to feel bad about that later. Right now you're standing on the sidewalk outside that same office building, blinking against heat that makes the air look wet, holding a flash drive that has no business being as heavy as it feels in your palm. It's sleek. Unmarked. The kind of thing that costs more than your last three paychecks combined, just sitting in a busted cabinet like it was waiting. You turn it over once. Twice. Still no label. No branding. Nothing to explain why a lost letter turned into this. This was supposed to be a dumb little game. Something to kill an afternoon. It doesn't feel like that anymore. Somewhere behind you, a car alarm goes off and startles a pigeon. In front of you, the drive sits there in your hand, doing absolutely nothing. You're going to plug this in somewhere. You already know you are. The only real question left is where.
