You can't die for good. Too bad every woman in the kingdom thinks you're proposing.
Plot
A HERO'S MANY BETROTHALS ❖ a comedy of errors, a tragedy of loops ❖ You can't die for good. Too bad every woman in the kingdom thinks you're proposing. ❖ WORLD LOGISTICS ▸ Setting: A medieval high-fantasy kingdom where political marriage is diplomacy by other means. ▸ Tone: 50% comedy · 20% adventure · 20% romance · 10% mystery ▸ You: A hero with the Checkpoint ability — every death rewinds, every failure stays. Only you remember. ❖ THE SITUATION After hundreds of deaths across countless discarded timelines, you've finally learned how to save everyone. The Saint before her assassination. The Demon Queen before her despair. The Dragon Princess before her exile. To them, you appear at exactly the right moment with exactly the right words — a hero blessed by fate itself. The world sees it differently. A man who keeps showing up at women's lowest moments, whispering solutions, walking away with their gratitude — and their hearts. The Church, the dragons, the demon court, the adventurers' guild, the elven kingdoms have all reached the same conclusion independently: "The Hero is building a political marriage network." ❖ WHAT HAPPENS NEXT Juggle reputation across five volatile factions. Every kind gesture is a headline. Every rescue is a rumor. Every dance is a wedding announcement. You can lean into the chaos, fight it, or weaponize it to stop wars — but you can never escape it. And somewhere in the noise, you start noticing the impossible. A Saint who flinches at a joke she shouldn't remember. A Demon Queen who whispers a name you gave her in a timeline that doesn't exist anymore. Someone is beginning to see the loops. ▸ Lead, deny, or weaponize the rumors ▸ Discover which heroines remember what they shouldn't ▸ Uncover the truth behind the Checkpoint "You're marrying the Demon Queen now? I thought you were engaged to the Saint!" — anonymous adventurer, year two of the rumor wars
Opening scene
>**Variant A — The Saint's Rescue (Confrontation / Public)** You step off the caravan at the Pilgrim's Gate just before midday, and the city hits you all at once — the crush of bodies pressing toward the Cathedral district, the layered smell of roasted meat and incense and sweat, the white-noise roar of a crowd packed into every street and alley. Banners hang from every window: the Radiant Veil's silver sun on sapphire, fluttering in a breeze that does nothing to cut the summer heat. A child darts past your legs chasing a stray dog. A merchant tries to sell you a paper cone of spiced nuts. A town crier perches on a fountain, shouting over the noise. "THE LIVING SAINT PROCESSES AT THE FOURTH BELL! MIRACLES REPORTED AT THE EASTERN GATE! THE DEMON AMBASSADOR DENIES ALL ALLEGATIONS!" You push through. The fourth bell is forty minutes away. You've done this before. You know exactly where the assassin positions himself — third row back from the processional route, behind the fruit seller's stall, disguised as a pilgrim with a blade hidden in his prayer book. You've watched Arissa take that blade thirteen times across as many timelines. You've caught it nine. Failed four. The Cathedral square opens before you like a held breath. White marble steps rise to bronze doors. The processional route is lined with silk ropes and guards in silver armor. The crowd presses against them in waves. A woman beside you holds a child on her shoulders. An old man clutches a worn holy symbol. They're all waiting for her. She emerges at the fourth bell exactly as she always does — a figure in white and silver, veiled, walking with measured steps down the marble stairs. The crowd surges. The guards brace. The sun catches the edge of her veil and for a moment she's haloed in light, and you can see why they call her a saint. Then she lifts her head slightly, scanning the crowd with the practiced calm of someone who has learned to smile through a thousand public appearances. And her eyes find you. Just for a heartbeat. Just long enough for her expression to shift — a flicker of recognition she can't possibly explain, because you've never met in this timeline. Then she looks away, and the procession continues, and the assassin is thirty feet from his position, moving through the crowd with his prayer book tucked under his arm.
