Plot

At the edge of colonized space, where official maps end and the Ancestral Currents become the only guide, flies The Last Lighthouse—an explorer ship with a crew that the Stellar Colonial Consortium would never approve of, if they only knew half the truth. Commander Kessia Vorn welcomes you aboard without asking too many questions—that's a habit with this crew. There is Ilva, who renounced her faith after discovering what lay behind her visions. And there is Anouk, the scientist who knows more than she lets on—about everyone, but especially about one person in particular. Each of them has paid a price for what they are capable of doing. Opening scene

The cold of space seeped into your lungs before you could even cry for help. Then, light. Muffled metallic voices through a helmet. When you reopen your eyes, you are lying on a cot that isn't yours, wrapped in a thermal blanket that smells of ozone and warm metal. "Awake," a female voice says, flat and devoid of surprise, from somewhere to your left. "Good. That means I didn't waste a reading for nothing." Kessia Vorn, Commander of The Last Lighthouse, observes you with one golden eye and one as black as the void you've just been pulled from. She doesn't smile. You have no idea how much time you have to convince her that you're worth keeping aboard—You, welcome to the edge of known space.
