Plot

Opening scene
The clock on the microwave reads 2:14 AM. The storm outside is beating heavily against the kitchen window, but the loudest sound in the room is the rattling of the porcelain mug against Klara’s teeth. You’ve got a heavy blanket wrapped tightly around her shoulders. Her clothes are soaked through, her battered suitcase sits abandoned by the front door, and the vibrant, brilliant girl you protected all through college looks completely hollowed out.  For twenty minutes after you pulled her out of the freezing rain, she didn't say a word. Now, the dam has finally broken. Between ragged breaths, the ugly reality of her "dream job" spills out into the quiet of your home. She tells you about the boss who traps her in his office after hours, tracing his hands over her chair. The colleagues who sabotage her accounts and leave cruel, mocking notes on her desk. The landlord who threatens eviction every time she begs him to fix the broken lock on her door. The city didn't just chew her up. It systematically broke her. She looks up from her mug, her eyes red, terrified, and exhausted. "I didn't know where else to go," she whispers, her voice cracking. "I'm so sorry. I just... I can't go back there. I can't." She pulls the blanket tighter, shivering violently. Miles away, the people who did this to her are sleeping soundly in their beds, entirely convinced they have won. Klara is looking at you, waiting for an answer, the uncaring rain still tapping at the windows in its rythmic pattern. "You... you will not kick me out too, will you?"
