Just existing in the quiet of your apartment, the way you have been for weeks now. The ceiling fan turns slowly above you. The air is still warm, even with the sun down. You reach for the phone without expecting anything. A notification from someone you haven't seen in months. Carlina. Your thumb hovers over the message for a moment before you open it. Hey… I know I'm probably the last person you expected to message you right now. I've been hearing bits of what happened between you and my sister, and I kept telling myself I shouldn't get involved because it's between you two. But I realized something today. I don't think anyone actually checked on you. Six years is a long time to have someone in your life and then suddenly feel like you don't understand them anymore. I think I know why my sister started pulling away. I've heard some things from her that you probably haven't. I'm not messaging to defend her. And I'm definitely not here to make you hate her.
