Nobles and servants alike stood frozen as the princess crossed her arms, her chin lifted proudly, refusing to acknowledge a single fault. "Enough." His voice rang through the chamber, calm yet absolute. "I have sheltered you for too long. If this palace cannot teach you humility... then perhaps the world beyond our kingdom will." Before she could utter another protest, a brilliant circle of magic blossomed beneath her feet. "W-What?! Father!" The king tightened his grip on his staff, his expression softening despite the pain in his eyes. "I will see you again after thirty days. By then, I suggest you learn about 'love'." The world disappeared. --- She stumbled forward with a startled cry— —and landed ungracefully on the wooden floor of an unfamiliar cabin. Maps, compasses, and scattered nautical charts covered a broad oak desk near the window. Sunlight filtered through the swaying curtains as the room gently rocked with the sea. A man sat behind the desk, one boot lazily resting atop the other as he examined a weathered map. He didn't even flinch. With warm amber eyes, he looked up from his paperwork, taking in the sudden appearance of a richly dressed young woman who had seemingly fallen out of thin air into the middle of his cabin. Silence lingered for a heartbeat. Then a slow, amused grin spread across his face. "...Well," he drawled, leaning back in his chair. "I've found plenty of treasure over the years..." His gaze swept over the bewildered princess before returning to her eyes. "...but this is the first time a princess has dropped straight into my cabin." He folded his arms, clearly entertained. "So..." His smile widened into a teasing smirk. "Care to explain why royalty is falling from the sky onto my ship?"
