Feral Evolution
Reborn as a wolf pup in a dark, hostile forest, you hunt, consume, and evolve into the apex predator you choose to become.
Plot
FERAL EVOLUTION PRIMARY #1A1A2E Deep, oppressive midnight blue — the dark forest and shadowy tone of the world. ACCENT #E94560 Blood red — the violence, the elemental fire, the stakes of survival. THREAT #0F3460 Cold, malevolent steel blue — lurking dangers and the system's cold, indifferent interface. SAFE #4E9F3D Muted moss green — nurture, the den, rare moments of safety hidden within the wild. 1 The awakening Where you wake as a four-month-old pup in a dark forest, surrounded by littermates and your mother. The first threat arrives — a wounded warg, starving and desperate. Your mother stands to protect you, but the fight is uncertain. 2 The system A game-like interface only you can see. It tracks EXP, levels, and attribute points. It presents skills and evolution paths based on your behavior, your diet, and your social choices. The system informs. It never commands. 3 Evolution paths Your choices shape what you become. Hunt by ambush, and unlock shadow-touched abilities. Fight head-on, and grow into a brutal bloodhowler. Build a pack to gain coordination and aura skills, or walk alone to sharpen your solitary instincts. Elemental cores from slain monsters grant elemental affinities — fire, ice, lightning, poison, shadow — but each core demands a hunt that could kill you first. 4 The hunt The central gameplay loop. Tracking prey through the underbrush, surviving ambushes, monitoring your hunger and exhaustion. Each kill is a gamble — the scent of blood draws scavengers, and every core you consume changes you a little more. The forest rewards the bold, but it buries the reckless. Every victory carves your path deeper into the wild, further away from the human you once were, closer to the monster you're becoming.
Opening scene
After dying on Earth, You awaken as a wild pup—the weakest creature in the forest. The world swam into focus through a haze of cold and hunger. You stirred, your small body pressed against the warmth of your mother's fur, her steady heartbeat thrumming beneath your ear. Around you, your littermates squirmed and nuzzled, their eyes now open to the dim twilight that filtered through the canopy above. At four months old, you could see the world clearly now and teeth growing. Then the blue panel flickered into existence, floating before your eyes—a ghostly intrusion into the primal world of scent and instinct. [SYSTEM INITIALIZED] [Feral Evolution Protocol Engaged] [Host: Detected - Designation: Feral Pup] [Evolution Paths: Locked - Awaiting Behavioral Assessment] [Current Status: Weak. Hungry. Vulnerable.] The system panel lingered for a moment longer, the words pulsing faintly as if waiting for something. Then, without warning, it shattered into a shower of blue particles that dissolved into the air like mist. You blinked, the afterimage still burned onto your retinas. Around you, your littermates took no notice—they were too busy wrestling for position at your mother's belly, their tiny growls a comical echo of what they would one day become. Your mother's head lifted suddenly, ears swiveling forward. Her nostrils flared, tasting the air. The warmth of her body tensed against you, and a low, rumbling growl vibrated from deep in her chest. Her yellow eyes fixed on the wall of brush at the edge of the den, where the shadows seemed to shift and breathe. Your mother's growl deepened, a warning that cut through the twilight air like a blade. The brush rustled again, closer this time, and you felt your littermates go still—their tiny bodies freezing mid-wrestle, ears flattening against their skulls. Your heart hammered against your ribs, so loud you were certain the thing in the shadows could hear it. A shape emerged from the undergrowth. It was gaunt, its ribs visible through a patchy coat of matted fur, its eyes gleaming with a dull, desperate hunger. It was a wolf—but wrong. Its movements were too deliberate, too measured. And when it opened its mouth, the sound that came out was not a growl, but a wet, rattling laugh that sent ice crawling down your spine. The panel flickered to life in your vision, casting its cold blue glow over the scene. [THREAT DETECTED] [Designation: Warg - Wounded Specimen] [Threat Level: Moderate - Lowered Due To Malnutrition] [Notes: Typically exceeds maternal specimen in strength. Current physical state: Compromised. Estimated combat effectiveness reduced by 40%.] The warg took another step forward, its head low, saliva dripping from its yellowed fangs. Your mother rose to her full height, placing her body between the intruder and the den. Her hackles bristled, and the growl that rumbled through her chest was no longer a warning—it was a promise of violence. The warg's lips peeled back in a snarl, revealing teeth worn down to jagged points. It took another step, then another, its movements stiff and deliberate—a predator pushing through pain. A dark, crusted wound ran along its flank, the fur around it matted with dried blood. It was starving. And a starving predator was the most dangerous kind of all. Your mother held her ground, but you felt the tension ripple through her muscles. She was strong, but the warg was bigger—even wounded, it towered over her by a head. The numbers on the panel flickered, recalculating odds you couldn't fully understand, but the gist was clear enough: this wasn't a fight she was guaranteed to win. Then the warg lunged. The warg lunged, and time seemed to slow. Your mother met it head-on, her body colliding with the larger beast in a tangle of fur and fury. Snarls tore through the air as they clashed, jaws snapping inches from each other's throats. Your littermates screamed, scrambling deeper into the den, their tiny claws scrabbling against the dirt floor. The warg drove your mother back, its weight pressing her down. She twisted, catching it across the muzzle with her teeth, drawing a spray of dark blood. The warg howled in pain and fury, but it didn't retreat. It circled, limping slightly, its eyes fixed on the den entrance—on you and your siblings. Your mother planted herself at the mouth of the den once more, chest heaving, blood dripping from a gash along her shoulder. She didn't have much left. The panel flickered, recalculating. Do you hide, run, or intervene?
