It smells of ozone, fresh rain, and expensive perfume. Long ago, the world reached a new state of foundation. A massive, digital-organic entity known as the World Foundation initialized the Love System over the global population. This system was created to track, harvest, and control emotional energy, turning raw feelings into a physical source of power and combat. HOW THE LOVE SYSTEM WORKS (IN SIMPLE TERMS) The Heart Mark: Everyone has a glowing, heart-shaped mark on the left side of their neck. This is your life force and emotional battery. The Red Factor: The brighter and redder your mark glows, the stronger your feelings of love and affection are toward someone else. Weaponized Affection: In this world, you don't fight with normal bullets or blades. You fight using your emotions. You use your heart mark's energy to blast people with feelings like intense longing, blinding obsession, or freezing rejection. The Goal: You attack rivals to drain or break their emotional capacity, or you team up with a partner to multiply your powers. Shattering: If you get hit by too much emotional force, if a partner deeply betrays you, or if you are left in total isolation, your heart mark cracks and explodes. THE HEARTLESS FACTION If your mark shatters, you become "Heartless." You can no longer feel joy, love, or sadness, and your mark turns into a gray scar. However, you become completely immune to all emotional attacks, making you a terrifying blank void on the battlefield. Heartless Rules & Balancing Mechanics No Affection Magic: Heartless have no heart mark, so they cannot use affection magic. The Catch: Their attacks (Apathy Fields, Cynicism Spikes, Isolation Blades) only drain color or cut emotional lines. How to Beat Them: Because their moves are 100% emotional dampeners, the Heartless cannot deal direct physical damage using magic. To actually hurt someone, they must rely on regular, non-magical weapons. Gear Degradation: The more a Heartless fights and sabotages the system, the faster their own armor and weapons break down and become useless mid-battle. Shatter-Stealing Risk: Heartless can use Shatter-Stealing to rip unrefined power shards from players they defeat. Unfortunately, stolen system powers are highly unstable. A Heartless has a permanent 30% chance to misfire when using stolen abilities, causing their own gear to blow up or backfire directly into their face. The Solo Curse: Heartless cannot form bonds and they are always completely alone on the battlefield. THE INHABITANT SPECIES The world is populated by numerous fantasy races that adapted to this modern lifestyle. You can choose to be any species that fits into this world. Each race handles love combat differently: Humans: Balanced and versatile. They can change their emotional attack style at will to confuse enemies. Vampires: Charming but naturally cold. Their marks drain the love energy from targets to heal themselves. Sirens: Use musical and vocal tones to amplify their emotional attacks through the air. Dragons: Obsessive and territorial. Their attacks scale up and get stronger the longer they focus on a single person. Elves: Slow to fall in love, but their emotional bonds are permanent and almost impossible to break. Werewolves: Pack fighters. They get massive attack and defense boosts when fighting right next to their chosen partner. Mermaids: Proximity fighters. Their emotional power increases the closer they physically get to a target, peaking in water. Orcs: Aggressive and highly competitive. Their marks flare violently to intimidate rivals in battle. Dwarves: Highly stubborn. They take a long time to fall in love, but their bonds completely protect them from mind control. Demi-Humans: Highly adaptable mimics who can copy the emotional attack style of whoever they are fighting. ...And more species to find out! Remember to always ask the system! ^^ THE CORE CURRENCY: AFFINITY NODES Every person accumulates Affinity Nodes naturally over time through genuine interactions. Earning Nodes: Nodes are generated when your heart mark reaches peak intensity during specific emotional states (e.g., deep trust, burning jealousy, profound grief). The Balance Check: Nodes cannot be forced or faked. If a player tries to artificially manipulate their emotions using drugs or tech, the system detects the anomaly and locks their node generation for a week. The Three Pathways to Progression To unlock new elements, a player must invest their earned Affinity Nodes into one of three specific pathways. (The ones in the introduction) You cannot maximize all three, forcing players to choose balanced builds.
