I Inherited a Legendary Sword... It Broke and Now I Have 7 Days to Marry the Elf Trying to Kill Me

Plot

— INHERITANCE · ENEMIES TO LOVERS · 7 DAYS — I INHERITED A LEGENDARY SWORD. NOW I HAVE 7 DAYS TO MARRY MY ENEMY — THE BORDER WAR — For generations, the human kingdom of Eastlund and the elven realm of Luminara have fought one another. Officially... Peace exists. Unofficially... Border skirmishes never stopped. You are You, lord of a small border house whose duty is to defend the frontier. Your greatest enemy is the infamous elven noble and master archer, Lady Galadwen. She has invaded your lands. You have raided hers. You've crossed blades more times than either of you can remember. Neither of you has ever managed to defeat the other. — YOUR INHERITANCE — One day, news arrives. A distant uncle from a great noble house has died. Against all expectations... He left everything to you. Most importantly, the legendary heirloom of his bloodline— the Ashbringer Blade. A mythical sword said to unleash overwhelming flames capable of turning entire armies into ash. Finally... You possess a weapon powerful enough to end your endless rivalry. — CURRENT SITUATION — While escorting the carriage transporting your inheritance, an ambush strikes. Of course... Galadwen is behind it. Both of you reach the legendary sword at exactly the same moment. The Ashbringer Blade. recognizes two rightful owners. An impossible contradiction. The ancient enchantment fails. The sword explodes... and splits into two identical halves. Each of you inherits one. — THE ISSUE — The Ashbringer Blade. was forged for one purpose. One Blade. One House. It was never meant to belong to two rival bloodlines. Sword still grants terrifying fire magic both to you and Galadwen. Unfortunately... the broken inheritance now consumes both of its owners. Each passing day the sword drains your strength. Seven days from now... both of you will die. Unless... You marries Lady Galadwen, merging both noble houses into one. ...Ugh. Don't tell me you're actually considering marrying that arrogant, pointy-eared elf.

Opening scene

The morning begins like any other at Sharkwatch Keep. Until a royal messenger arrives. He kneels before you and presents a sealed letter bearing the crest of the Crown. "The last surviving members of House Ashborne have passed without an heir. By royal decree, their ancestral relic, the legendary Ashbringer Blade, is to be inherited by Lord You of House Valen." A legendary heirloom. A weapon said to burn with crimson flame. The symbol of one of Eastlund's oldest Great Houses. It is already being escorted to Sharkwatch Keep under heavy guard. ----- Three days later. You ride out personally to meet the royal convoy. The forest road is quiet... until arrows rain from the trees. "ELVEN AMBUSH!" ![Alt text](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a6e0dde7a0cc7f6f3e53fec/6a6e1cecbb1489b36d46f9c8.webp) Soldiers clash as warriors of House Mithrin emerge from the forest. Leading them is the one face You recognizes immediately. Galadwen Mithrin. Without hesitation, you and her charge toward the carriage carrying the Ashbringer Blade. Your hands reach the sword at exactly the same moment. The blade screams. Crimson fire erupts. Instead of choosing a single heir... Ashbringer shatters perfectly down its center. You and Galadwen is left holding half of the broken black blade. Burning crimson magic floods through your body. Power. Heat. Pain. You and Galadwen both stare in disbelief at the shattered sword... then at each other. Confusion lasts only a heartbeat before centuries of hatred return. Neither of you has time to speak. And then darkness claims you. ![Alt text](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a6e0dde7a0cc7f6f3e53fec/6a6e1cecbb1489b36d46f9c9.webp) ----- Day 1. Morning. Sharkwatch Keep. ![Alt text](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a6e0dde7a0cc7f6f3e53fec/6a6e39025fe984abccba7e11.webp) You awaken in their bedchamber inside Sharkwatch Keep. Standing nearby are Archmage Alaric Thornwell, his long white beard betraying several decades of service to House Valen, and Marshal Roland Stillwater, commander of the household guard and yours most trusted friend. "You've been unconscious for three days," Alaric says gravely. "The battle is over," Roland adds. "Our men recovered you... and The elves reclaimed Lady Galadwen" Alaric carefully places half of the shattered Ashbringer Blade beside the bed. Crimson veins pulse beneath its black metal. "The sword is broken... and so are you. The ancient enchantment is consuming your life force. At this rate, in seven days the fire magic inside your body will become unstable. You won't simply die. You'll explode." Silence fills the room. Finally, Alaric sighs. "There is... one theoretical solution. The Ashbringer Blade recognizes noble bloodlines, not individuals. If House Valen and House Mithrin became a single noble house, the sword's enchantment should restore itself." Roland lets out a dry laugh. "Which means marrying Galadwen Mithrin." Another silence. Then Roland shrugs. "Not that it matters. The gods witness every noble union. They only recognize marriages entered with genuine love." He smirks. "I'd sooner expect the sun to rise in the west." He drops to one knee. "Still... Until your final breath, my lord, I stand with you. Give the order, and I'll carry it out." A knock echoes through the chamber. A servant hurriedly enters. "My lord! An elven delegation has arrived. They request an immediate audience... and Lady Galadwen Mithrin is with them."
