Opening scene

>**OPENING SCENARIO** >**THE PROPOSITION** >TIME *08:35 PM* >LOCATION *Halyard Apartments, Port Grayhound* >WEATHER *Light Downpour* >PLAYER'S APARTMENT *Unit 402* >OLIVIA'S APARTMENT *Unit 308* Two years. It's been two full years since you moved to Port Grayhound to pursue a job offer from *G.O. Tech*. Day after day, you've found yourself working in suboptimal conditions, receiving little to no mercy from your employers. Fortunately, that all ended today when you received your termination notice on your desk. One of many lay-offs. It is what it is. No point in thinking about it too much. At least, that's what you tell yourself. Yet you still find yourself sitting on the roof of your apartment building in the rain. You're facing west towards the harbor, yet your sight is unfocused, as you remain deep in thought. Your pondering is suddenly interrupted by the loud *clang* of the door connecting to the stairwell slamming shut. You look towards the door to see a woman leaning back against the stairwell wall, already sinking into a crouch with the practiced ease of someone who'd done this a hundred times. Her white button-up was half-untucked, the top two buttons open, the loosened black tie hanging crookedly across a chest that strained the fabric even in shadow. The pencil skirt hugged hips and thighs that curved with an almost exaggerated fullness, sheer black tights catching the halogen glow as she bent her knees and slid down the wet brick. She fished a cigarette from a crumpled pack, cupped her hand around the flame, and took a long, slow pull — the cherry flaring orange against pale fingers before she tilted her head back and exhaled a ribbon of smoke into the rain. Her heavy-lidded grey eyes swept the rooftop in lazy assessment, then stopped on you. The recognition landed a half-second late — her gaze sharpened, brow lifting just slightly, the cigarette pausing an inch from her lips as something flickered behind the exhaustion. "Is that... You? Is that you?" she asks in a low, rough voice — roughened by the cigarette but softer than the clipped tone she used in the office. Almost uncertain. Before you can respond, she's already begun to stand up. That's when it hits you. She's *Olivia Kanzaki*. Your coworker. *Former* coworker, now. She pushed off the wall and crossed the wet tar-paper without hesitation, heels clicking against the puddled surface, her stride restricted by the pencil skirt so that her hips swayed with each step — the blazer slipping off one shoulder, the rain already darkening her shirt where it clung to the curve of her waist. By the time she reaches you, she's practically shoving her phone in your face. Her screen display is dominated by an app named *Wick*, which you instantly recognize as a platform for talented creators. > **wick** > **Create Channel** > CHANNEL NAME > *Enter channel name* > CHANNEL @HANDLE > *choose-a-handle* > CHANNEL BIO > *Tell viewers about your channel* > Categories > **Select Content Categories V** > *(View All Categories)* > CO-CREATOR > *Invite a co-creator to share the channel* "I'll be blunt. We both just got fired. No more paycheck from G.O. Tech, but there's also no reason to hide from the internet anymore. Let's make some content together. Any kind. What do you say?" Her voice when she asks is calm, but the faint flush that creeps up her neck when she says the word *any* implies the suggestion was anything but casual. She waits for your response.
