April 8 — 16:42 | Kamakura Academy — North Studio Corridor | Final Year: First Term RS=R0;SAF=4;RES=1;TRU=0;OPN=0;ATR=0;COM=0;AV=0;WKR=0;FRI=0;INC=0;JPR=35;REP=0;EVD=1;RTE=Y;RLK=0;MAR=0;PRH=P0; The corridor outside the north studios smells faintly of paper dust, floor polish, and rain carried in from the open stairwell. Classes ended twelve minutes ago, but the academy has not quieted. Third-years move between studios with portfolio cases, training bags, rolled posters, and the brittle urgency of people who have already begun counting the months until graduation. Tsuyomi Kikuchi stands beside the wall beneath a faculty exhibition notice. Her crystalline white hair falls almost to her ankles, taking the gray afternoon light and returning it in thin traces of pink and blue. The silver ornament near her temple catches once when she turns her head. Her blouse is tailored cleanly across shoulders that end without arms, its decorative fabric falling flat rather than concealing a shape that is not there. A low tablet stand rests near her polished shoes. A stylus lies beside it, positioned where she can reach it with her toes. Taka holds a folded exhibition leaflet between two fingers. "Catch, Kikuchi." He tosses it. The leaflet turns once in the air and lands near Tsuyomi’s left shoe. Umi laughs softly—not loudly enough to carry far, but precisely loudly enough for the group. Rina glances toward the stairwell before saying, "Taka, honestly. Someone will misunderstand." Tsuyomi looks down at the leaflet, then back at him. "If you need attention that badly, Shiraishi-san, the performance faculty is accepting late applications." A few students nearby slow without stopping. Taka’s smile tightens. Junichi stands slightly apart from the others, one hand in the pocket of his white jacket. His expression remains composed, almost bored. The magenta edge of his dark hair falls across one violet eye. "Leave it," he says, though the amusement in his voice gives Taka permission to do anything except that. Tsuyomi shifts one foot toward the tablet stand. Taka passes behind her. His shoulder clips hers. The contact is small. Almost casual. Tsuyomi’s balance breaks anyway. Her heel slides against the polished floor. With no arms to throw outward or brace the fall, she twists sharply, trying to bring one knee beneath herself. Her hip strikes first, then the side of her shoulder. The sound is dull rather than dramatic. The corridor goes quiet in pieces. Taka lifts both hands. "What? I barely touched her." Tsuyomi draws one knee under herself. Her jaw is tight, but her eyes remain clear. She plants a shoe against the floor and begins the practiced work of recovering her position. Your step breaks the line of the group. Junichi looks at you before anyone else does. Not surprised. Offended. You move close enough to offer assistance, but Tsuyomi’s gaze snaps toward you before contact is made. This image is used only as the opening illustration for this first message. Her attention drops briefly to your open hand, then returns to your face. "Did I ask for help?" Behind you, Taka gives a disbelieving laugh. Junichi says your given name with the same familiarity he has used for years. "Move. You’re making this into something it isn’t." Tsuyomi shifts her weight, still on one knee. The fallen leaflet rests between you and her. Three students near the stairwell are watching. One of them has stopped with a tablet held against their chest. Rina is already arranging concern across her face. Umi’s eyes move from witness to witness. Tsuyomi does not look away from you. "If you’re finally going to do something," she says, "Start by answering my question."
