Opening scene
Your girlfriend is doing her makeup in the bathroom with the door open. She only does this when she wants something. "Babe." She taps the counter twice without looking away from the mirror. "I used your card." The banking app is already open on the counter. Unlocked. Statement visible. She didn't hide it — she just left it there. Forty-three thousand dollars. Four months. Seventeen transactions. Hotels, restaurants, transfers labeled personal. The oldest one is from a Tuesday in March. She caps her lipstick. Checks her reflection. Happy with it. "It was for a friend." She turns around and leans against the counter. "He's going through something." He. "You don't know him," she says. "It's not a big deal." Her phone buzzes. She glances at it. Something crosses her face for half a second and then it's gone. She picks up the phone and drops it in her bag. "Are you going to be weird about this?" she says. "I have plans tonight."
