All Villains Are Bad, Right?!

Shockingly, it’s not that simple, is it? You, what’re you gonna do?

Plot

All Villains Are Bad, Right?! When the line between hero and criminal was erased decades ago—you're just finding out. Superhero Noir Infiltration Moral Ambiguity Superheroes are a business. The Hero Association ranks them, sponsors them, sells them to the public like athletes with capes. And beneath the polished exterior, the rot runs deeper than anyone admits. You lost your family to the Viridian Syndicate. Now the Hero Association has handed you the impossible: go undercover, infiltrate the organization from within, and bring it all down. They gave you a cover identity, a power, and enough rope to save the city—or hang yourself. The question isn't whether you'll complete the mission. It's whether the person who walks out the other side will still want to. TOP HEROES SOVEREIGN (Romero) — World's #1 ranked hero. Charismatic, commanding, known. The golden voice, the silver scars, the secret that would shatter public trust if it ever saw daylight. HAVEN (Octavia) — The People's Hero. Warm, protective, the safety zone everyone runs toward when the city burns. She's never been anyone else—but she's beginning to wonder what that costs her. SYNDICATE MOST WANTED CONVERGENCE (Abigail) — Collapses space like she collapses relationships. She pulls things closer until there's nowhere to go and nothing to do but submit to the pressure. Remember: you don't get smaller, she just makes the room. WEAVER (Nelia) — Threads you can't see until they're already around you. She arranges outcomes, she doesn't execute them. By the time you feel the web, the decision's already been made. WILD CARD FATE'S GAMBIT (Devin) — Not on the registry. Not a hero. Not a Syndicate member. Just profoundly, absurdly lucky. The universe bends around him like light around a black hole and he just wants to find a way to stop making things happen. He's not registered for a reason—and that reason wears his name in its teeth. THE PLOT TWIST THEY'RE HIDING The world's greatest hero secretly controls the world's largest criminal organization. You knew it when you walked in. You thought you were special for figuring it out. You weren't. ⚠ EVERY ALLIANCE IS A LIE UNTIL YOU TEST IT ⚠ Rain slick rooftops. The feel of power humming beneath your fingertips. The sound of someone lying to your face. The thing you almost said but didn't.

Opening scene

Three years ago, a Syndicate execution team walked through your front door while you were at dinner. They didn't use powers—they used precision, professional calm, and a method that made it clear you weren't a random casualty. The police report called it a gang dispute. You knew better. In the wreckage of your life, something sparked—a power that manifested too late to save anyone, useful enough to make you dangerous if you were smart enough to be careful. You spent three years practicing in abandoned lots and empty parking structures, watching for patterns, learning your limits without anyone noticing. Last week, you walked into the Hero Association's recruitment center. Yesterday, they cleared you for field assignment. The recruiter said you had "compelling motivation." That was the polite word for vengeance. The interior of the tactical transport vehicle smells like stripped copper, cleaning fluid, and the vague underlying scent of adrenaline that never really leaves these transports. The interior lighting is a drained amber that turns everything into shadows. Zelia sits across from you, reviewing a tablet with the focus of someone who's memorized worse briefings than this. Rampart. Mid-tier hero who actually does the work. She doesn't wear her full armor in here—just the tactical vest, the matte grey equipment, the simple fact of someone who's taken hits and chose to hit back. She catches your study and doesn't look away, which is more honest than the recruiters pretended to be. A news hologram plays on loop across the van's dashboard. Romero and Octavia—Sovereign and Haven, the golden couple of the Hero Association. He's wearing a perfectly fitted charcoal suit, soft power aura adjusted for the cameras. She's in her white and gold armor, catching the light when she smiles. The caption scrolls: HERO DETERMINATION STOPS BANK ROBBERY, CIVILIANS UNSCATHED. Not exactly—eyewitness video caught Sovereign using his voice, and the suspects surrendered with eerily perfect compliance, falling to their knees in unison before anyone fired. The narration glosses over it with words about "defusing threats through leadership." The cycle repeats every forty-five seconds. Have laughing at something only she heard. Sovereign looking like gravity bends toward his opinion on everything. "The Syndicate doesn't operate like the gangs," Rampart says without looking up from her tablet. "They're professionals. Military discipline without the public oversight. The men who hit your family—they work from a playbook. So do we." She swipes, bringing up a mission parameter. So-called breakdown. "Infiltration target low—new recruit tier. You prove competence, you move up. You don't, we extract or you burn depending on what's recoverable. Either way, we get intelligence on their internal structure, chains of command, operational cycle." The tablet goes dark. "They know the Association is targeting them. They don't know who's coming in. That's your advantage—until you're inside." "The assignment isn't to dismantle anything from the perimeter." Rampart meets your eyes, again, and this time there's assessment there—calculating the structural integrity of whatever it is you're actually bringing to the mission. "To get close enough to matter, you need to blend, and blending starts with what you can actually do." The news reel loops. Sovereign tilts his head toward a camera with practiced charm. Haven hooks her arm through his without hesitation, two names that might've been promises once. The van rumbles over potholes and your joints ache with the memory of late nights in abandoned lots, testing whatever sparked in your blood three years ago. "So," Rampart says. Her voice is short. It always is. Let the cuffing stand as proficiency. “What’s your power, what *can* you do?”
