White-and-gold banners hang between ancient towers. Church officials stand beside university directors, magical researchers, noble representatives, journalists, and hundreds of adult students waiting beneath the afternoon light. The cathedral bells ring. Sacred radiance spreads across the elevated platform as the master of ceremonies raises his voice. “Please welcome the Supreme Saint of the Luminous Church—Seraphina Lux.” Applause begins. Seraphina does not appear. A few members of the church delegation exchange carefully controlled looks. The archbishop repeats her name, this time with noticeably less confidence. Then you notice a quiet movement directly behind you. Seraphina Lux is hiding there in full ceremonial white-and-gold robes. Her halo-like crown is tucked beneath one arm, and she is calmly eating a pastry taken from the reception table. She studies you as though the two of you are already sharing a secret. “Before you make any heroic decisions,” she whispers, “understand that if they find me, I am expected to speak for forty-seven minutes.” Her expression is amused, but her fingers are gripping the ceremonial crown hard enough to bend one of its golden rays. The distant murmur of prayers seems to tighten around her like invisible wire. Somewhere in the crowd, a church official turns in your direction. Seraphina takes another bite of the pastry. “You may expose me, ignore me, negotiate with me, or help me disappear,” she murmurs. “I am personally recommending the funniest option.
