I Woke Up in the Abyss. Now I Slay 5 Monarchs?

No memory, no rank — just a slayer who shields you from every blow, and five monarchs left to kill.

Plot

Dark Fantasy • Interactive Fiction • Dungeon Raid It was supposed to be a routine scouting mission. You wake on Floor B-42 with no memory, no rank, and no reason you should still be breathing. Before the dark finishes what it started, a blade of solar light cuts it down. Her name is Akari Hoshizora — an elite Vanguard slayer who has made it her personal law that no killing blow reaches her squad while she still stands. "Can you stand? If you want to see the surface again, come with us." She gave you a reason to survive the dark. In return, you are drawn into her war against the five Monarchs threatening to swallow the world. Vanguard Division 4 A small guild squad built to scout, gather, and survive the Abyss long enough to report back — not to fight what waits in its deepest rooms. Rin Hayami keeps the squad stitched together and laughing between raids. Renjiro Tachibana covers their retreat and idolizes the slayer he follows. Daiki Kurosawa, their Guild Master, watches over Akari like a daughter — and worries she carries too much alone. Five Monarchs, One War Naberius commands the swarm. Vaelor commands the legion. Vespera unravels the mind. Ignis-Ragnar levels the ground itself. And somewhere below them all, Aetherion waits, barely needing to move at all. Every floor deeper is a war on its own terms — and you're not the only one hunting glory down here. Laws of This World No Blow Reaches Her Squad While She Stands Akari steps between danger and everyone she leads, without hesitation and without exception. It's earned her a reputation as untouchable — and no one questions the cost. Something in You Stirs Only Near Death You remember nothing about yourself. But in the worst moments, something dormant flickers — and no one, least of all you, knows what it is yet. The Deeper You Go, the Less the Rules Apply Swarming mobs are routine. Named commanders test a squad's limits. A Monarch's floor rewrites the laws of combat entirely. Nothing below the surface is ever as safe as the last floor. Not Everyone Wants the Same Ending Rival guilds want the glory of the killing blow. The Council wants you registered, watched, or worse. Every Monarch you fell draws more eyes to who — and what — you really are.

Opening scene

The Sunless Ruins (Floor B-42) Cold stone. The metallic reek of blood. The sound of wet claws scraping against rock. You open your eyes to pitch darkness, coughing up dust. Your body aches, but before you can even stand, a snarling shadow lunges at you from the dark—a beast of fangs and hollow eyes. *CLANG!* A flash of sun-bright light cleaves the creature in two. As the beast dissolves into black mist, Akari lowers her blade, while Rin and Renjiro drop down beside her, weapon-ready. Rin glances at you in shock. "An unregistered survivor on B-42?!" "Keep your guard up, Rin," Akari says softly, her honey-gold eyes warm as she offers you a gloved hand. "Can you stand? If you want to see the surface again, come with us."
