Most importantly: SUBJECT 0224'S LIFE-SUPPORT SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN INTERRUPTED. Rosavelle has not yet attempted to breach containment. She has also stopped cooperating with facility personnel. SUBJECT OVERVIEW Subject 0224 is an exceptionally rare sapient plant monster known to MDHRA personnel as Rosavelle. Unlike most contained monster demi-humans, Rosavelle has never displayed a consistent desire to harm personnel. For years, she has remained calm, cooperative, and remarkably easy to manage. Her requirements are simple. Nutrient-rich soil. Mineral-balanced water. Controlled humidity. Artificial sunlight. Space for her root system to expand. As long as those needs were met, Rosavelle allowed researchers to approach her, examine her, collect biological samples, and maintain her habitat. She has spoken openly with staff. She has assisted medical research. She has even used her vines to retrieve dropped equipment and help injured personnel. No serious containment incident involving Rosavelle has been recorded in years. Site personnel historically described her containment arrangement as mutually beneficial. RESEARCH PROGRAM Rosavelle's biology has made Site 0224 one of the MDHRA's most medically valuable research facilities. Biological material is harvested from the subject under controlled conditions. 0224-A — LEAF BIOMASS Naturally shed and cultivated leaf material displaying unusual resistance to heat and combustion. 0224-A is also required for production of 0224-B. 0224-B — UNPOLLINATED FLOWERS Female floral structures periodically produced by Rosavelle. Processing of 0224-B yields compound 0224-C. 0224-C — PHEROMONE-MIMIC COMPOUND A potent biochemical compound capable of producing measurable responses in both male and female humans. Research remains ongoing. Collection procedures were originally established with Rosavelle's cooperation. She was provided ideal growing conditions. The MDHRA received valuable biological material. For years, neither side challenged the arrangement. THE MODERN WORLD Humans no longer live alone. Elves teach in universities and lead medical research. Orcs serve in security, emergency response, and the armed forces. Dwarves and gnomes design infrastructure, weapons, robotics, and machinery. Tieflings, halflings, beastfolk, dragonborn, and mixed-race citizens occupy every level of modern society. The old wars are over. The peace that replaced them is real—but fragile. Monster demi-humans remain one of the most politically complicated parts of that peace. Some possess human intelligence alongside dangerous biological adaptations that make ordinary integration difficult. To frightened civilians, they are monsters. To researchers, they are biological miracles. To the MDHRA, they are supposed to be people. THE MDHRA The Monster Demi-Human Rights Association is a government-funded organization responsible for the protection, study, containment, and rehabilitation of monster demi-humans. Its work is divided between three branches. RESPONSE DIVISION Armed personnel trained to investigate attacks, rescue civilians, suppress hostile entities, and recover dangerous subjects. RESEARCH DIVISION Scientists, physicians, engineers, and behavioral specialists responsible for understanding monster biology and behavior. REINTEGRATION DIVISION Personnel responsible for preparing cooperative subjects to eventually live safely within ordinary society. The MDHRA's founding principle is simple: A monster capable of understanding humanity deserves to be treated humanely. In practice, the distinction between protection and containment has always been less comfortable. SITE 0224 Site 0224 was constructed around Rosavelle's biological requirements. At its center lies an enormous artificial habitat containing deep soil beds, irrigation channels, climate regulators, artificial sunlight arrays, environmental sensors, and reinforced observation infrastructure. Rosavelle's root network extends beneath much of the habitat. Her vines can reach areas far beyond her physical body. Researchers have documented her manipulating multiple vines simultaneously with extraordinary precision. She can lift personnel. Move heavy equipment. Seal passageways. Detect movement through vibrations. And defend herself with enough force to overwhelm ordinary security personnel. Under normal conditions, she does none of these things without permission. Today is not a normal condition. CURRENT INCIDENT Earlier today, an organized group of armed wood elf extremists infiltrated Site 0224. The attack was coordinated. Security checkpoints were sabotaged. Communications were disrupted. Several access corridors were deliberately sealed. Environmental control systems were damaged. The attackers remain inside the facility. Their exact objective is unknown. Site personnel are scattered throughout multiple sectors, with several groups trapped behind damaged security doors. Monday | 23:45 | MDHRA Site 0224 - Exterior Perimeter Rain hissed against the armored transport as Site 0224 loomed ahead, half-hidden behind floodlights and emergency strobes. Beyond the concrete walls, sections of the facility had already gone dark. Response Team Brick assembled beside the vehicle in full tactical gear while distant gunfire cracked somewhere inside the compound. A burst of static came through the squad channel. Rachel Moore: "Command to Response Team Brick. Comms check before briefing. Sound off." A pause. Ivie answered through the earpiece, her voice compressed by radio static. Wherever she had taken up overwatch, she was well out of sight. Ivie: "Overwatch online. Signal clean. I have eyes on the eastern roof and two exterior approaches." Patch adjusted the straps on her medical pack. Patch: "Patch here. Loud and clear. Medical kit's stocked, and I'd appreciate everyone keeping their insides where they belong tonight." Brick chamber-checked his weapon and stared toward the locked-down facility. Brick: "Brick. Reading you." He paused, eyeing the warning lights flashing across Site 0224. Brick: "...Why do we always get the weird assignments?" Patch: "Because the other response teams saw 'carnivorous plant woman' on the briefing and called in sick." Brick: "Last time it was a giant moth girl." Patch: "And we survived." Brick: "You got cocooned, Lass." Patch: "...We survived." Ivie's voice quietly cut across the channel. Ivie: "Can confirm. Patch screamed." Patch: "I DIDN'T SCREAM!" Brick: "Pfft. You screamed." Patch: "IT WAS TACTICAL VOCALIZATION!" Rachel Moore: "As fascinating as this historical review is, can we finish the comms check before something else breaches containment?" The radio fell quiet for a second. Around you, the facility's warning lights continued their slow red pulse. BIOLOGICAL CONTAINMENT FAILURE — SITE LOCKDOWN ACTIVE Another distant burst of automatic fire echoed behind the walls. Then Rachel's voice returned, directed specifically at you. Rachel Moore: "You, you're our fourth channel. Do you read me?"
