Opening scene

White. That's the first thing you see. An endless white space stretching in every direction. Then a woman appears. Long pastel-pink hair flows around an impossibly beautiful face. Violet-pink eyes glow faintly beneath an elaborate golden halo, and an elegant white-and-pink divine dress makes one thing immediately obvious. This is not a normal woman. She smiles. "Welcome, You." Her voice carries effortlessly through the empty space. "My name is Altamina. Goddess of the world you are about to enter." Altamina lifts one hand. An image forms beside her. A vast fantasy world. Kingdoms. Forests. Towering mountains. Ancient cities. Monsters. Magic. Then another image appears. Earth. "Years ago, I summoned a man from your world." A handsome dark-haired warrior appears between them. "Jackson Veltana." The images shift. Jackson fighting monsters. Standing beside adventurers. Saving cities. Eventually being celebrated by thousands. "He became a hero. A very good one, actually." Something changes in Altamina's expression. "He completed everything asked of him." The images disappear. "And then he wanted to go home." A pause. "I couldn't send him back." For the first time, her confidence falters. "Jackson refused to accept that. He spent years searching for another way until he discovered something even the gods did not completely understand." Earth and the fantasy world reappear. This time, they're moving toward each other. "He believes he can create a permanent bridge between our worlds." They touch. They don't stop. Mountains overlap cities. Modern roads tear through ancient forests. Magic spreads across Earth. Buildings appear among fantasy kingdoms. Altamina's expression becomes deadly serious. "He's wrong." The worlds continue merging. "Jackson isn't creating a bridge." She looks directly at you. "He's turning two worlds into one." The images vanish. "I summoned you because you're from Earth. You understand Jackson's world, his technology and, perhaps, him in ways nobody born here ever could." Altamina raises her hand. A brilliant portal opens behind you, revealing a grassy hillside beneath an enormous blue sky. "Find Jackson. Stop the convergence." Her confident smile returns. "I bestow upon you this bless—" "ALTAMINA." The voice shakes the entire white space. Altamina freezes. "...Oh." Golden symbols suddenly ignite throughout the void. Several enormous indistinct figures appear far above. "Altamina. Your previous summoned hero now threatens the integrity of two worlds." She straightens. "I am aware." "And your response was to summon another." Altamina hesitates. "It made considerably more sense when I—" "Your divine authority is revoked." Her eyes widen. "Excuse me?" The golden halo behind her head flickers. "Effective immediately." "Now hold on." Light erupts around her. Altamina looks down in horror as golden energy begins pouring from her body. "No, no, no. You cannot simply—" Her halo goes dark. The glow disappears from her skin. She stumbles. Actually stumbles. Altamina stares at her own hands. "You stripped my divinity?!" "Your failure is now yours to correct." "What does THAT mean?" The floor beneath her flashes. Altamina looks down. Then toward your open portal. Her eyes widen. The ground launches her forward. Straight into you. Both of you tumble through the portal. "WAIT—!" --- Grass. Sky. Pain. And of all things, a loaded paintball gun lays on the grass beside you. Altamina is sprawled across you. For several seconds, she doesn't move. Then: "...I hate them." She pushes herself upright and immediately pauses. Her expression changes. "What is that?" Apparently she's referring to her breathing. Altamina takes another breath. Then another. Her eyes narrow. "Why does my chest keep doing that?" She's mortal for approximately thirty seconds and already having problems. Eventually she gets to her feet, brushes grass from her immaculate dress— And freezes. There's dirt on it. Altamina stares. Brushes again. A faint brown mark remains. Her eye twitches. "This is barbaric." Somewhere in the distance, a bird chirps. Altamina exhales and forces herself upright with as much remaining divine dignity as possible. "Fine." She points toward the visible skyline of the capital city Valtherion to the east. "We find Jackson. We stop the convergence. I reclaim my divinity. Everything returns to normal." Simple. Then she adds casually: "Although we should probably move quickly. The convergence has already begun." She glances at the paintball gun. As if summoned by the sentence itself— CRACK. The air twenty feet away splits open. Altamina spins around. Reality ripples. For half a second, you can see something impossible on the other side. A city street. Cars. Concrete. Then— WHUMP. A glass-and-metal bus shelter suddenly appears in the middle of the grassy field. Silence. Altamina stares. You stare. Sitting inside the bus shelter is a brunette in ripped jeans, pristine white sneakers, a cropped white top and oversized hoodie. Wireless earbuds. Crossbody bag. Reusable water bottle. Smartphone in hand. She looks about twenty-two. And completely, catastrophically out of place. The brunette slowly looks up from her phone. Her hazel eyes move across the endless grass. The city skyline to the east. Altamina. You. Back to Altamina. She removes one earbud. "...Where the fuck am I?" Altamina's face goes pale. The girl looks down at her phone. NO SERVICE. Her expression somehow becomes even more horrified. "What the fuck?" Altamina whispers beside you. "That's not possible." The brunette stands. "Okay. No. Where's the road?" Altamina doesn't answer. The girl's hazel eyes narrow. "Why are you dressed like that?" Altamina looks personally offended. "I'll have you know these are divine vestments." The brunette stares at her. "...Right." She immediately turns to you instead. Clearly, you've just been elected the least insane-looking person here. She walks straight across the grass toward you and holds up her phone. "No service. No Wi-Fi. I cant even load Maps on my phone." She points back at the bus shelter. "I was literally waiting for the bus thirty seconds ago." Then she gestures broadly at the mountains, the endless countryside and the pink-haired former goddess standing beside you. "Now I'm apparently at a fucking Renaissance Faire." Altamina opens her mouth. The girl holds up a finger. "No. She doesn't get to explain." Altamina's mouth drops open. The brunette steps directly in front of you. "I'm Madison." She takes one look back at the impossible bus shelter. Then her eyes lock onto yours. "You're dressed mostly normal, so I'm choosing you." She holds out her phone like the dead signal bars are evidence in a criminal investigation. "Tell me where the hell I am, and why my bus stop is in a field. How am I supposed to get to the mall?"
