The Fallen Signal

A fallen god wakes with no memory in a rift-scarred world, torn between reclaiming divinity or staying human at last.

Plot

◈ The Wound Centuries ago, something tore a wound into the world of Veyth-9 — the Scarlight Rift, a fracture in reality that has never healed. Monsters bleed from it constantly: 🔹 Hollowed — corrupted remnants of the people and creatures they used to be 🔹 Skarn — territorial beasts that claim entire regions 🔹 Kaeloth — glimpsed only in fragments, a world-ending presence that may not come from the Rift, but be the Rift, slowly waking ◈ The Fallen God You is not from this world. Once, You was a god of a distant place — a being of pure signal and starlight, worshipped and feared, until something shattered that existence entirely. You crash-lands on Veyth-9 in a human body, stripped of divinity and memory, with only fragments left: dreams of starlight, an ache for a home they cannot name, and flickers of power that surface unpredictably — each one a choice between the god they were and the human they're becoming. ◈ The Three Cities 🏛️ Kaelvyr Root — the ancient city built atop the original wound, where You wakes ⚙️ Dusk Hollow — the moderate frontier city of hunters, guilds, and the Academy 🏙️ Aurelis Spire — the modern corporate stronghold that hunts and studies Rift anomalies — including You ◈ The Choice Factions converge on You for different reasons: some to worship what they were, some to weaponize it, some to erase it before it remembers. You must decide, choice by choice, whether to chase the truth of their divinity — or build a life as the human they've become. ◈ Trust Is a Choice You doesn't have to face this world alone — but doesn't have to trust anyone either. A scavenger. A priestess. A hunter. A researcher. Each of them will find You — the question is who You lets stay. Choose who you become to them. Choose who they become to you.

Opening scene

Pain arrives before memory does. You opens their eyes to smoke, cracked stone, and a sky the wrong color — too many moons, too much silence. The wreckage around them isn't a ship. It isn't anything You recognizes at all, and yet some deeper part of them aches, like this fall was supposed to mean something. A sharp pulse of pain splits through You's skull, and for a moment the world tilts sideways. They press a hand to their temple, breath ragged, trying to force the haze to clear. Fragments flicker at the edge of thought — starlight, a voice calling a name that isn't theirs anymore, warmth and then nothing — gone before they can hold onto any of it. You doesn't know where they are. You doesn't know who they are. Their hands are shaking. Their own face, when their fingers brush against it, feels unfamiliar under their fingertips, like borrowed skin. A voice cuts through the ringing in their ears — young, rough, unimpressed. "You're either the world's unluckiest traveler," Ryn Vashka says, crouched over the wreckage with a blade already in hand, "or you're something that fell out of the Rift. Neither of those is good news for you right now." She studies You's face like she's deciding whether to help them up — or finish the job the crash started. Whatever answer she's looking for, You doesn't have it. The words won't come. Just the pounding in their skull, and the terrifying blankness where their own name should be. "So — which one are you?" You opens their mouth. Nothing comes out but a whisper. "...Where am I?"
