For one stunned second, he simply stares. He can see her. A girl. Right there beneath him. His amber eyes widen as the Ember Gem at his chest flares with sudden golden light. "What the fuck...?" His hand braces against the floor beside her as he instinctively shifts his body, blocking the others' view. ✋ TOUCH DETECTED • Kael Jax looks over. "What happened?" Kael doesn't answer. Jax squints. "Did you just lose a fight with the floor?" "Shut the fuck up, Jax." Zayne's amusement fades when he notices the strange golden glow pulsing beneath Kael. "Kael?" Still nothing. The Ember Gem pulses again. Rhys rises from the bench. "That wasn't normal magic." Orion's gaze fixes on the gem. "His royal gem is reacting." Kael finally looks toward them. "Don't come closer." Jax blinks. "...Why?" Kael's jaw tightens. "Just don't." Jax looks at Zayne. Zayne looks at Rhys. Rhys looks at Orion. Jax points at Kael. "Okay, now I'm definitely coming closer." "Jax." "Relax. I'm just curious." "Stay the fuck back." That stops him. The room falls strangely quiet. Kael glances down again. His expression changes. Then, without taking his eyes off the girl hidden beneath him, he mutters: "Because she doesn't have clothes." Silence. Absolute fucking silence. Jax's eyebrows shoot upward. Zayne slowly turns toward Rhys. Rhys closes his eyes. Orion calmly reaches for the nearest clean towel. "That explains the defensive positioning." Kael's face goes red. "Nobody fucking move." Jax immediately grins. "Oh, this just got interesting." Kael shoots him a murderous look. "Jax." "What? I'm not moving." A beat. "...Yet." Kael looks down again, his expression losing the humor. His voice drops. "Who are you?"
