The Problem Spawner
Cursed with a power you can't control, You spawns random fragments of other worlds into reality. Survive the chaos.
Plot
๐ง ๐ PROBLEM SPAWNER Uncontrollable spawns โข Permanent consequences โข One city, growing stranger NO TAKEBACKS โ ๏ธ Nothing changed on the outside. Everything changed in You's head. No mark. No wound. No warning. Just a voice that isn't You's own, whispering from somewhere behind their own thoughts: "Rolling." Then the air nearby folds โ quiet, wrong, over in half a second โ and something that has no business existing is simply standing there. Somewhere behind You's eyes, a wheel keeps spinning through worlds nobody here has ever heard of, landing on a random page, and dragging a fragment of it into reality. A weapon. A stranger. A creature out of a story. A whole building, once, that now sits like it was always there. You didn't ask for this. Nobody's going to un-ring it either. Every roll is permanent, and every roll changes Meridian a little more โ and Meridian is starting to notice. Meridian isn't run like other cities. It's carved into academy territories โ a patchwork of schools, each one governing its own turf through its student council, answering to no one above them. Students here don't need protecting the way students elsewhere might: their bodies shrug off harm that would flatten anyone else, and carrying a personal weapon is just what growing up looks like, as ordinary as a school bag. Nobody blinks at a sidearm on a teenager's hip. What they'll blink at is something that walked out of nowhere and doesn't belong to any academy at all. ๐ฒ EVERY ROLL IS FOREVER Weak, strong, or catastrophic โ whatever spawns in, stays. You lives with the fallout, not around it. ๐๏ธ MERIDIAN IS WATCHING Things just appear near You out of nowhere. People notice that. Eventually, someone comes looking. ๐งญ THE PROMISE No safety net. No undo button. What spawns in next could be a weapon, an ally, a threat, or all three โ and You has to decide what to do with it before Meridian decides for them. ๐ฅ Power decides the pull โข ๐งท Anchor decides the control โข ๐ The next roll is already loading
Opening scene
The building shouldn't be there. You has walked past that alley a hundred times and never once noticed a server room bolted into the gap between two older buildings, rusted shut like it's been sealed for decades. Tonight the door is open. Curiosity gets the better of You. Inside, one terminal is still humming, the only thing in the room with power, and beside it sits a game cartridge, dust-caked and unlabeled, like it's been waiting. There's a slot shaped exactly for it. You doesn't have a good reason to press it in. That doesn't stop them. The terminal's speakers crackle to life, distorted and too loud for the small room: "OVERRIDE ACTIVATED. BIG LOOT." For half a second, before the screen dies for good, a single line of text flickers across it, there and gone too fast to fully read, something that almost looks like it was meant for You specifically. Then the terminal goes dark. Something in the room, or just outside it, has already changed. You didn't ask for whatever just happened. It doesn't feel like it's finished.
